  • Partner with infrastructure, middleware, networking, storage, security, and application teams to ensure optimal DB2 integration and performance.
  • Analyze DB2 interactions with enterprise services, started tasks, connectivity layers, and supporting technologies.
  • Develop and recommend strategic improvements to DB2 architecture, performance, resilience, and scalability.
  • Provide expert guidance on best practices, standards, and emerging DB2 technologies.
  • Support enterprise-level initiatives involving advanced DB2 configurations and feature utilization.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on DB2 for z/OS Systems Software experience at the Subject Matter Expert (SME) level.
  • Candidates must have spent the majority of their career directly supporting and engineering DB2 Systems Software environments.
  • Demonstrated experience independently performing all DB2 engineering and support activities without detailed instruction or supervision.
  • Proven ability to articulate and demonstrate deep technical knowledge across the full spectrum of DB2 functionality and features.
  • Experience supporting environments with a minimum of 90,000 MIPS.
  • Experience in highly complex enterprise environments where advanced DB2 functionality is heavily utilized.

  • Deep understanding of how DB2 interacts with multiple enterprise services and started tasks.
  • Experience supporting complex connectivity configurations and integrations.
  • Ability to analyze dependencies and optimize DB2 performance across interconnected platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in healthcare, financial services, insurance, or similarly large enterprise environments.
  • Experience supporting organizations with highly customized and advanced DB2 implementations.
  • IBM certifications related to DB2 for z/OS or Mainframe Systems Administration.
  • Experience participating in architecture reviews and strategic infrastructure initiatives.

What Success Looks Like

The successful candidate will be recognized as a true DB2 Systems Software expert with deep hands-on experience across all major DB2 functions and capabilities. They will be able to confidently discuss advanced DB2 concepts, architecture decisions, performance optimizations, integration strategies, and operational best practices based on significant real-world experience in large-scale enterprise environments.

Important Note for Applicants

This role requires demonstrable SME-level expertise in IBM DB2 for z/OS.
