Java AMS Lead (Production Support & AMS)
About the Role
As a Java Application Support Lead, you will make an impact by ensuring the stability, performance, and continuous improvement of business-critical enterprise applications. You will be a valued member of the Application Managed Services team and work collaboratively with business stakeholders, IT teams, offshore support teams, and delivery leadership to maintain operational excellence and deliver high-quality application support services.

In this Role, You Will:
- Lead production support activities for critical Java-based applications, ensuring application availability, stability, and adherence to service level agreements.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for production incidents, coordinating resolution efforts across onsite and offshore teams.
- Drive incident, problem, change, and release management processes, including root cause analysis and implementation of preventive measures.
- Analyze business requirements and deliver minor enhancements, defect fixes, and application improvements to support evolving business needs.
- Monitor application health, integrations, batch processes, and system performance while identifying opportunities for automation and continuous improvement.
- Manage stakeholder communications, customer escalations, operational reviews, and service delivery reporting.
- Support application migrations, deployment activities, testing efforts, and production releases to ensure successful implementation outcomes.
- Provide technical leadership through troubleshooting, code reviews, and adherence to software development and support best practices.

What You Need to Have to Be Considered
- Extensive experience supporting and managing enterprise Java applications in a production support or Application Managed Services (AMS) environment.
- Strong expertise in incident management, problem management, change management, and release management processes.
- Experience leading production support teams and coordinating onsite-offshore delivery models.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex application issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive resolution within SLA commitments.
- Hands-on experience with Java application development, debugging, defect resolution, and minor enhancement delivery.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with experience managing customer escalations and executive-level reporting.
- Experience supporting application deployments, migrations, testing activities, and production releases.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Salary and Other Compensation: The annual salary for this position is between $ 75,000 to $ 138,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
