Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Test Automation Engineer – Playwright to join our Quality Engineering team supporting a leading financial technology client. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in test automation, web application testing, and quality engineering practices, with deep expertise in Playwright and TypeScript. This role requires a strong automation background, hands-on experience building scalable test frameworks, API testing knowledge, and the ability to drive quality across complex enterprise applications within Agile environments. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving software quality, accelerating delivery, and supporting continuous testing initiatives through modern automation and AI-assisted testing practices.

About the Role
As a Senior Test Automation Engineer - Playwright, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust automated testing solutions for web and integrated enterprise applications. You will collaborate closely with developers, product teams, and quality engineers to ensure high-quality software delivery through comprehensive automation strategies, API validation, end-to-end testing, and continuous integration practices. This role offers the opportunity to work with modern testing technologies, scalable automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and Generative AI tools while contributing to the overall quality engineering transformation of the organization.
In This Role, You Will
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test solutions for web applications using Playwright and TypeScript.
- Build and enhance scalable, reliable, and maintainable test automation frameworks.
- Create and execute automated test scripts to validate functionality, performance, and quality of modern web applications.
- Perform API testing using Rest Assured and support end-to-end testing across multiple integrated systems.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and support continuous testing initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, product owners, and quality engineering teams to ensure high-quality software delivery.
- Apply quality assurance, test automation, and SDET best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Leverage Generative AI tools, including Copilot, to improve testing efficiency and productivity.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Communicate testing progress, risks, and quality metrics effectively with project stakeholders and team members.
Work Model

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2-3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Charlotte, NC or Plano, TX. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 9+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, Test Automation, or Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) roles.
- Strong hands-on experience in Web UI Automation using Playwright with TypeScript, including framework design and maintenance.
- Proven experience building scalable, reusable, and maintainable automation frameworks using Page Object Model (POM), Data-Driven, Hybrid, or BDD frameworks.
- Solid experience in API Automation Testing using Rest Assured, Postman, and REST service validation.
- Experience designing and executing end-to-end test automation across multiple integrated applications and platforms.
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, SDLC, STLC, defect management, and quality engineering best practices.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, and automated test execution pipelines.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, participating in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Knowledge of source control systems such as Git and collaboration tools including Jira and Confluence.
- Experience leveraging Generative AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar AI-assisted testing and development tools to improve productivity and test generation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.

Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until September 27th , 2026.
The annual salary for this position is between $53,000 - $92,500 depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
