About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to support and maintain critical Oracle database environments and enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have strong Oracle DBA expertise, Oracle PL/SQL development skills, and experience troubleshooting database performance and operational issues. This role will partner closely with Enterprise DBA teams to ensure the stability, availability, and performance of business-critical systems.
In this Role You Will
- Administer and maintain Oracle database environments supporting enterprise applications.
- Monitor database health, performance, availability, and capacity to ensure optimal operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve Oracle database issues, incidents, and performance bottlenecks.
- Support CDC (Change Data Capture) and data replication processes.
- Provide DBA support for REN and PET applications and related database environments.
- Collaborate with Enterprise DBA teams to implement database standards and best practices.
- Develop and maintain Oracle PL/SQL scripts, packages, procedures, and database objects.
- Utilize SQL*Plus, TOAD, SQL Developer, and Oracle Export/Import utilities for database administration tasks.
- Support database migrations, upgrades, patching, and maintenance activities.
Participate in operational support activities and quickly assume ownership of assigned responsibilities.
Work Model: Remote with Milestone travel to Halifax, CA
What You Need to Have to Be Considered
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience as an Oracle Database Administrator supporting production environments.
- Strong expertise in Oracle Database Administration, backup and recovery, and database performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle PL/SQL development and troubleshooting.
- Experience using SQL*Plus, TOAD, SQL Developer, and Oracle Export/Import utilities.
- Knowledge of database monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational support processes.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
These Will Help You Stand Out
- Experience with Unix/Linux environments and Unix Shell Scripting.
- Knowledge of Unix batch scripting and cron scheduling.
- Experience supporting Linux servers and server migration activities.
- Familiarity with CDC (Change Data Capture) and data replication technologies.
- Knowledge of JBoss and WebLogic middleware administration.
- Experience supporting Oracle EBS, HCM, or other Oracle enterprise applications.
Salary and Other Compensation
The annual salary for this position is between $64,800 - $83,500, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
