About the role
As a Test Engineer, you will make an impact by ensuring the accuracy, performance, and compliance of core healthcare payer systems through comprehensive testing of claims, membership, billing, and provider configurations. You will be a valued member of a cross‑functional delivery team and work closely with QA leads, business analysts, developers, and integration teams to support high‑quality healthcare solutions.


In this role, you will:

Execute functional testing across Facets modules including Membership, Claims, Billing, Provider, and Product configuration
Validate end‑to‑end claims processing, including pricing logic, edits, accumulators, adjudication rules, and benefit structures
Perform integration and system testing across Facets, downstream applications, and data warehouse platforms
Execute and validate EDI transactions such as 834 (Enrollment), 837 (Claims), and 835 (Payments)
Support data migration and reconciliation testing for membership, provider, and claims data to ensure accuracy and completeness
Log, track, and manage defects using tools such as ALM and Jira, ensuring proper traceability, prioritization, retesting, and closure
Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) cycles by supporting business users with execution, defect analysis, and resolution
Validate data integrity across inbound and outbound interfaces, batch processing jobs, and regulatory reporting processes

What you need to have to be considered

6–8 years of overall testing experience, with 2–4+ years of hands‑on Facets testing in a healthcare payer environment
Strong experience analyzing business requirements, configuration documents, and design specifications to create Facets‑specific test scenarios and detailed test cases
Proven experience validating end‑to‑end healthcare claims processing and benefit configurations
Solid understanding of healthcare domain concepts, payer workflows, and regulatory requirements
Hands‑on experience with defect management tools such as ALM and Jira
Ability to collaborate effectively with QA leads, developers, business analysts, and integration teams to clarify requirements and resolve defects

These will help you stand out

Experience with large‑scale data migration and reconciliation testing in healthcare systems
Strong working knowledge of HIPAA EDI transactions and interface testing
Prior experience supporting UAT cycles with business stakeholders
High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Clear written and verbal communication skills in cross‑functional environments

The annual salary for this position will be in the range of $90K - $105K depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
