Data Business Analyst
About the role
As a Data Business Analyst, you will make an impact by analyzing IT requirements in business processes and designing robust data engineering solutions that meet the organization’s information system needs. You will be a valued member of our data team and work collaboratively with technology experts, business stakeholders, and cross-functional IT teams.
In this role, you will:
• Analyze IT requirements in business processes through requirements elicitation, solutions identification, and risk analysis in collaboration across IT teams.
• Develop documentation for IT applications, system specifications, and test plans according to existing standards and methodologies.
• Translate business needs, processes, and procedures into workable systems, and communicate specific software requirements with technology experts and business stakeholders.
• Identify and collect data sources using specific tools or techniques; provide data flow diagrams and document the processes used in company databases.
• Analyze and extract key data and information to meet the organization’s information system needs, and assist in data validation and cleaning to ensure quality and integrity.
Work model

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 4 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Halifax, Nova Scotia. What you need to have to be considered
• 8+ years experience analyzing IT requirements in business processes, including requirements elicitation and solutions identification.
• Ability to elicit business requirements through interviews, intelligence analysis, and survey assessments.
• Proven ability to translate business needs into workable technical systems and articulate specific software requirements.
• Experience identifying and collecting data sources, and performing data validation and cleaning to ensure quality and integrity.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with technology experts and business stakeholders.
These will help you stand out
• Experience with data engineering solutions and delivering scalable data systems across the enterprise.
• Familiarity with data flow diagramming and database documentation practices.
• Technical leadership experience guiding data engineering projects of significant complexity.
