About the role
We are seeking a highly experienced SAP FI Funds Management (FM) Consultant to join our Finance functional team. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and supporting SAP Funds Management solutions in large, complex enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will act as a subject matter expert, working closely with finance stakeholders to drive process improvements, system configuration, and seamless integration with core SAP modules.
In this role, you will
- Lead end‑to‑end SAP FI Funds Management (FM) implementations, from blueprinting through go‑live
- Configure and manage Budget Control System (BCS), including budget types, versions, and Active Availability Control (AVC)
- Design and implement FM derivation strategies, rules, and account assignments (Funds, Fund Centers, Commitment Items, Functional Areas, Funded Programs)
- Configure and support integration between SAP FM and FI (GL/AP/AR), MM (Purchasing), and CO to ensure accurate budget consumption
- Analyze and translate business requirements into standard SAP FM functionality while minimizing custom developments
- Provide Level 3 support for complex FM issues, including budget control failures, derivation errors, and year‑end closing activities
- Develop detailed project documentation including Business Blueprints, Functional Specifications, UAT test scripts, and training materials
- Conduct workshops with finance leadership and advise on SAP best practices and optimal financial workflows

What you need to have to be considered
- 10+ years of hands‑on experience in SAP FICO
- Minimum of 5–7 years focused on SAP Funds Management (FM)
- At least 2–3 full lifecycle SAP FM implementation projects
- Strong expertise in SAP ECC and S/4HANA Finance environments
- In‑depth knowledge of Budget Control System (BCS) and Active Availability Control (AVC)
- Strong understanding of FM master data including Fund, Fund Center, Commitment Item, Funded Program, and FM Area
- Proven hands‑on experience configuring SAP Funds Management and integrations
These will help you stand out
- SAP Certification in FI or S/4HANA Finance
- SAP Funds Management certification or specialization
- Experience working in large, complex, multi‑stakeholder environments

Salary and Other Compensation
The annual salary for this position ranges from $83,250 – $112,500, depending on experience and qualifications.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
