About the role
As an Apigee API Consultant, you will make an impact by designing and developing robust, scalable API solutions using Apigee and Apigee X, ensuring seamless integration across enterprise systems and high availability of API services. You will be a valued member of the API & Integration team and work collaboratively with Platform Architects, DevOps engineers, Cloud teams, and business stakeholders.
In this role, you will:
Design, develop, and implement API solutions using Apigee and Apigee X aligned to business and integration requirements.
Act as an L3 support engineer, resolving complex API platform issues through deep root cause analysis and performance optimization.
Ensure high availability (99.99%) of API services by collaborating with architects, DevOps, and cloud support teams.
Monitor, upgrade, and optimize Apigee clusters, including performance tuning of API proxies and traffic management policies.
Troubleshoot complex security and integration issues involving OAuth 2.0, SAML, JWT, TLS/SSL, and OWASP policies.
What you need to have to be considered
Strong hands-on experience with Apigee and Apigee X API development and management.
Expertise in API architecture, integration design, and enterprise API ecosystems.
Proven experience in advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis (RCA), and performance engineering.
Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (GCP/Azure), DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipeline implementation.
Experience in production support, monitoring, and API analytics tools (Splunk, ELK, Cloud Logging).
These will help you stand out
Experience with API security protocols including OAuth2, SAML, JWT, and threat protection policies.
Hands-on experience with debugging tools such as Apigee Trace, Wireshark, and log analysis platforms.
Experience collaborating across development, frontend/backend, and business teams.
Exposure to cloud-native API platforms and large-scale distributed systems.
Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to L1/L2 support teams.
Work model: Remote, must be based in the US

Salary and Other Compensation
The annual salary for this position is between $83,600 – $129,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
