Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst with strong expertise in instant payments and ISO 20022 to support the design and delivery of a next-generation Instant Payment Execution Engine. This role focuses on translating business requirements into detailed functional specifications and driving end-to-end analysis for real-time payment processing systems. You will work closely with product owners and engineering teams in an Agile environment to build scalable, high-impact payment solutions. The position requires deep domain knowledge in payment flows, strong analytical skills, and the ability to operate in complex, evolving systems.

Key Responsibilities:
· Collaborate with business stakeholders and product owners to gather, analyze, and refine requirements into user stories and functional specifications.
· Define and document system scope, objectives, and detailed requirements for instant payment processing systems.
· Translate high-level business and technical requirements into clear specifications, including payment message flows and system interactions.
· Design and validate payment flows aligned with ISO 20022 standards and real-time processing schemes (e.g., SCT Instant or similar).
· Contribute to the development of a new Instant Payment Execution Engine, including architecture inputs and feature definition.
· Work in Agile delivery environments, participating in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and value stream alignment.
· Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure accurate implementation of business requirements and support testing/validation cycles.
· Analyze system performance and propose improvements to enhance payment processing efficiency and reliability.
Qualifications:
· 7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst in financial services or payments domain.
· Strong expertise in instant payment processing, including SCT Instant or similar real-time payment schemes.
· Deep knowledge of ISO 20022 messaging standards and payment message flows.
· Proven ability to define and document detailed business and system requirements for complex platforms.
· Experience working in Agile environments with a solid understanding of value streams and product delivery models.
· Ability to translate abstract concepts and high-level requirements into actionable specifications.
· Experience building new platforms/products from scratch is highly desirable.
· Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The hourly salary for this position is between $[ 113,000 - 132,500] depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
