Role Overview
We are seeking a Penetration Tester with 3–5 years of experience to join our Threat & Vulnerability Management (TVM) team.
In this role, you will blend traditional penetration testing methodologies with AI-powered security tools to identify, analyze, and validate vulnerabilities across applications and systems. This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of AI-driven cybersecurity, helping strengthen security posture through advanced threat discovery techniques.
Key Responsibilities
Penetration Testing & Analysis
- Conduct comprehensive penetration tests using industry-standard methodologies
- Leverage AI-powered tools to enhance vulnerability discovery and analysis
- Validate and triage vulnerabilities identified through automated and AI-driven tools
Vulnerability Management
- Document security findings with clear, actionable remediation recommendations
- Assess and prioritize vulnerabilities based on risk, impact, and exploitability
- Support the end-to-end vulnerability lifecycle, from discovery through remediation
Application Security
- Identify and evaluate application-level vulnerabilities and security weaknesses
- Collaborate with development and engineering teams to improve application security posture
Collaboration & Communication
- Clearly communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Partner with cross-functional teams to drive remediation and continuous improvement
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in penetration testing, ethical hacking, or security assessments
- Strong proficiency in traditional penetration testing tools and methodologies
- Experience working with or exposure to AI-powered security tools and analysis platforms
- Solid understanding of application security principles and common vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top 10)
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to validate and interpret AI-generated findings
- Knowledge of the vulnerability lifecycle (discovery, assessment, remediation)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience testing modern applications (web, APIs, cloud environments)
- Familiarity with scripting or automation (e.g., Python, Bash)
- Industry certifications such as OSCP, CEH, GWAPT, or similar
- Experience working in agile or DevSecOps environments
Salary and Other Compensation
The annual salary for this position is between CAD $85,000 – $110,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
This role is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance.
