About Cognizant Consulting

Cognizant Consulting is more than Cognizant's consulting practice, we're a global community of 5,000+ experts dedicated to helping clients reimagine their business. Blending our deep industry and technology advisory capability, we create innovative business solutions for Fortune 500 clients. And now, we're looking for our next colleague who'll join us in shaping the future of business. Could it be you?

About the role

As a Senior Consultant, BFS Data Management, you will make an impact by supporting and leading defined analysis and delivery activities within BFS data management consulting engagements, translating business needs into practical process, data and technology requirements while building trusted client relationships. You will be a valued member of the Banking & Financial Services (BFS) Consulting team and work collaboratively with our ecosystem of clients, alliances, start-ups and design agencies, and clients.

In this role, you will

• Own defined analysis and delivery activities, including plans, dependencies, risks, quality and the timely completion of outputs.

• Conduct discovery, current-state assessment, target-process design, requirements definition, testing support and implementation-readiness activities, coordinating stakeholders and facilitating workshops to produce clear, implementation-ready deliverables.

• Advise clients across data governance, quality, metadata, lineage, master data and data products, and assess and improve processes covering strategy, ownership, stewardship, critical-data identification, controls, remediation, access and retention.

• Translate objectives into process, data, control and technology requirements across cloud data platforms, lakehouse, warehouse, MDM, catalogues, quality, BI and AI, defining data requirements and controls covering customer, account, transaction, product, finance, risk and compliance data.

• Apply Netherlands and EU context, including Dutch and EU privacy, regulatory reporting, resilience and responsible AI, and contribute to proposals, client presentations, reusable assets and thought leadership.

Work model

At Cognizant, we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2-3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Regardless of your working arrangement, we are here to support a healthy work-life balance through our various wellbeing programs.

The working arrangements for this role are accurate as of the date of posting. This may change based on the project you're engaged in, as well as business and client requirements. Rest assured; we will always be clear about role expectations.

What you must have to be considered

• Strong relevant experience in BFS data management, banking or financial-services consulting, IT business analysis or transformation delivery, with demonstrated ownership of complex analysis, deliverables and stakeholder coordination.

• End-to-end IT business analysis skills covering problem framing, elicitation, process modelling, user stories, acceptance criteria, traceability, testing and business readiness, with a technology-agnostic ability to assess capabilities, architecture implications, integrations, controls and non-functional requirements.

• Knowledge of enterprise data governance, ownership, stewardship, critical-data identification, data quality, metadata, lineage, master and reference data, access and retention, and the ability to translate regulatory, risk and business needs into data controls, quality rules and measurable data-quality outcomes.

• Strong consulting, structured problem-solving, workshop facilitation, storytelling and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to connect business processes with data ownership, quality, lineage, privacy, reporting and migration requirements.

• Excellent written and spoken English is mandatory, together with a bachelor or master degree in business, finance, economics, technology or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

These will help you succeed

• Dutch language capability and experience with Dutch or Benelux financial-services organisations, including knowledge of the Dutch supervisory landscape and relevant EU regulation for the subdomain.

• Understanding of cloud data platforms, lakehouse and warehouse patterns, MDM, data catalogues, data-quality tooling, integration, APIs, BI and AI enablement, and broader BFS technology landscapes including core platforms, workflow, cloud, data, analytics, automation and digital channels.

• Experience working across customer, account, transaction, product, finance, risk, compliance, reference and third-party data domains in financial services.

• Ability to build alignment in a Dutch consensus-oriented environment through fact-based recommendations and pragmatic delivery, and comfort working in hybrid international teams travelling to client locations in the Netherlands and Benelux.

• A client-focused, analytical and outcome-oriented approach that simplifies complexity, challenges constructively and is committed to responsible innovation, customer interests, high-quality delivery and developing the practice through coaching, accelerators, case studies and thought leadership.
