Data QA Tester – Azure Data Platform
About the role
As a Data QA Tester, you will make an impact by ensuring the accuracy, quality, and reliability of enterprise data platforms and business-critical data assets. You will be a valued member of the Data & Analytics team and work collaboratively with data engineers, business analysts, architects, and stakeholders to validate data pipelines, integrations, and reporting solutions across cloud-based environments.
In this role, you will:
- Execute data validation and testing activities across enterprise data platforms, data warehouses, and cloud-based analytics solutions.
- Validate data ingestion, transformation, and integration processes to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Develop and execute manual and automated test cases using SQL, Python, and PySpark.
- Perform data reconciliation, data quality checks, and reporting validation for business and operational data.
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to troubleshoot issues, validate requirements, and support successful project delivery.

What you need to have to be considered
- 5+ years of experience in data testing, quality assurance, data validation, or quality engineering.
- Strong expertise in Azure Databricks, including Delta Lake, Delta Live Tables, and Unity Catalog.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, including pipeline validation, monitoring, and testing activities.
- Proficiency in Python, PySpark, and SQL for data validation, test automation, and reconciliation.
- Experience testing enterprise data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, data warehouses, and cloud-based data platforms.
- Familiarity with Power BI reporting validation and analytics testing.
- Knowledge of data governance, data quality frameworks, metadata management, and PII compliance requirements.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD practices, and testing within cloud-based delivery environments.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
These will help you stand out
- Experience testing ERP, CRM, and HRIS applications such as Workday and PeopleSoft.
- Experience with Collibra or similar data governance and cataloging platforms.
- Familiarity with cloud data modernization and enterprise data migration initiatives.
- Knowledge of data lineage, metadata management, and data quality monitoring processes.
- Experience supporting reporting, analytics, and business intelligence validation efforts.
- Exposure to Agile delivery methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $80,000- $115,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
