Position Summary
The Data Domain Steward (Analyst/Senior Analyst level) is a hands‑on role focused on carrying out data governance work for assigned data domains. This role works closely with business partners, technical teams, and analysts to make sure data is accurate, well documented, and easy to understand.
The role also includes working directly with datasets to check data quality and confirm that data aligns to documented definitions across multiple platforms.
In this role, you will:
- Perform daily data governance activities for assigned data domains.
- Work with business and technical stewards to keep data definitions, ownership, and documentation up to date.
- Create and maintain metadata such as data definitions, classifications, lineage, ownership, and usage using enterprise governance tools.
- Follow and apply enterprise data governance policies, standards, and procedures consistently.
- Work directly with datasets across different platforms to review data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Support data quality rules, controls, and monitoring activities.
Work Model

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Hartford, CT. What You Need to Have to Be Considered
- 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, data quality, or data analytics.
- Working knowledge of data governance, metadata, and data quality concepts.
- Hands‑on experience with data governance or metadata tools (such as Collibra, DataHub, Databricks, or similar).
- Experience working directly with datasets across multiple platforms.
- Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into clear data definitions.
These will help you stand out
- Experience working in regulated or large enterprise environments (such as healthcare).
- Experience with modern data platforms and cloud‑based data environments.
- Familiarity with domain‑based or federated data governance models.
Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $100,000 - $160,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
