Financial Accountant
About the role
As a Financial Accountant, you will make an impact by delivering accurate financial accounting, reporting and statutory compliance support for Cognizant Technology Solutions
Based in Romania, you will be a valued member of the Finance team and work collaboratively with the Associate Director DACH, finance shared services colleagues, auditors, tax advisers and other stakeholders across Switzerland and Europe.
In this role, you will:
- Support the preparation and review of accounting entries, prepayments, accrued expenses and other standard accounting activities.
- Help ensure the accurate and timely completion of monthly, quarterly and year-end close activities.
Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis and management reporting.
- Liaise with internal, external and tax auditors, as well as Swiss stakeholders and relevant authorities.
- Support Local GAAP adjustments and help maintain compliance with US GAAP, Swiss GAAP and established financial policies and procedures.
- Work closely with Accounts Payable and Travel and Expense processing teams.
- Act as a finance business partner and identify opportunities to improve financial processes.
- Support additional administrative and operational activities in line with the Controller’s guidance and established procedures.

What you need to have to be considered
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- Between four and ten years of relevant experience in a comparable financial accounting position, preferably within a multinational environment.
- Hands-on experience supporting a Swiss legal entity, including Swiss statutory reporting, audit, tax and VAT requirements.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including US GAAP and Swiss GAAP.
- Fluent written and spoken English and German
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing activities and meet regular deadlines.
Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and communication skills.
These will help you stand out
- Experience working within a multinational or European finance environment.
- Familiarity with Swiss Local GAAP adjustments and Swiss VAT requirements.
- Basic understanding of Swiss corporate and wage taxation.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience using PeopleSoft or Hyperion.
