About the role
As a Power BI Solution Architect, you will make an impact by defining the end-to-end architecture for enterprise business intelligence and management information applications. You will be a valued member of the BI / MI team and work collaboratively with the Cognizant Engagement Lead, report developers, BI engineers, business stakeholders and clients.
In this role, you will:
- Own the end-to-end architecture for Power BI-based BI and management information applications, translating reporting needs into scalable technical solutions.
- Design governed semantic and data models using star-schema principles, DAX and Power Query, and define standards for datasets, dataflows, workspaces and report design.
- Architect integrations between Power BI and Azure or AWS data platforms, including capacity, gateway and deployment pipeline strategies.
- Establish secure, compliant platform controls covering row-level security, workspace access, sensitivity labels, monitoring, usage analytics and cost optimisation.
- Improve platform performance and delivery quality by optimising refreshes, dataset size and query efficiency, enabling CI/CD, and mentoring report developers and BI engineers.
Work model
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position based in London, with work undertaken from a client or Cognizant office and remotely. Regardless of your working arrangement, we are here to support a healthy work-life balance through our various wellbeing programmes.

- Hands-on experience with Power BI Service, Premium or Microsoft Fabric capacity, gateways, deployment pipelines and cloud data-platform integration across Azure or AWS.
- Strong understanding of row-level security, tenant governance, access controls, data protection and enterprise BI release practices.
- Excellent stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to explain complex architecture clearly, influence technical decisions and support delivery teams.
These will help you succeed
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric or Azure Synapse.
- Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst certification (PL-300) or an equivalent credential.
- Experience delivering solutions in regulated or public-sector environments.
- A background in enterprise management information, reporting modernization or migration programmes.
