About the Role
The Blue Yonder WMS Solution Architect owns the end-to-end solution and integration architecture across the Client WMS ecosystem. Based onsite in Dallas, TX, this role defines the target-state architecture spanning Blue Yonder Cognitive WMS and Yard Management System, ERP, middleware, and MHE/WCS layers; owns interface contracts, data architecture, and migration and cutover strategy; challenges fit-gap outcomes to enforce a configuration-first principle; and sets non-functional standards for performance, scalability, and security.
In this role you will:
- Own end-to-end solution architecture across the WMS ecosystem — application, integration, data, and infrastructure layers.
- Define and maintain the target-state architecture: BY Cognitive WMS + YMS with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), middleware, MHE and WCS.
- Produce and govern architecture artifacts — solution blueprint, context and component diagrams, interface catalogue, and decision records.
- Own integration architecture and interface contracts across BY WMS, ERP, TMS, carrier systems, MHE/WCS, and reporting platforms.
- Hand over architecture documentation and runbooks to Client's support and application-management organization.
Work Model
Cognizant embraces a flexible hybrid work environment designed to support work-life balance while meeting business and client needs. This role is based in Dallas, TX and follows a hybrid work model, with periodic onsite presence required at client or Cognizant locations.
Work arrangements may evolve based on project demands, client requirements, or business priorities. Expectations will always be communicated clearly throughout the engagement.
What you need to have to be considered
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline; Master's preferred.
- 12+ years of IT experience with 7+ years in WMS or supply chain execution architecture.
- 4+ years as solution or integration architect on Blue Yonder / JDA WMS implementations.
- Hands-on depth in BY WMS configuration, MOCA / integrator, page builder, and BY extensibility framework.
- Proven integration of architecture experience with ERP (SAP or Oracle), middleware/ESB, and API management platforms.
- Demonstrated MHE/WCS integration experience — conveyors, sorters, AS/RS, pick-to-light, or robotics.
- Willingness and eligibility to work onsite in Dallas, TX full-time.
These will help you stand out:
- Automotive parts distribution or high-velocity, high-SKU-count fulfillment experience.
- Blue Yonder Cognitive WMS and Yard Management System (YMS) implementation experience.
- Cloud/SaaS deployment experience with Blue Yonder on Azure; containerized and hybrid landscapes.
- Knowledge of JIS/JIT flows, cross-dock, kitting, and returns processing.
- TOGAF, AWS/Azure architecture, or Blue Yonder product certifications.
