Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Test Automation Engineer - Playwright to join our Quality Engineering and Assurance team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable test automation solutions for modern web applications and integrated enterprise platforms. You will leverage your expertise in Playwright with TypeScript, API automation, automation framework development, and CI/CD practices to drive quality across the software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in test automation, quality engineering best practices, Agile delivery environments, and a passion for leveraging modern tools, including Generative AI, to improve testing efficiency and effectiveness.

About the Role
As a Senior Test Automation Engineer - Playwright, you will play a key role in advancing automation capabilities across web, API, and end-to-end testing initiatives. You will partner closely with developers, business analysts, product owners, and quality engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and maintainable automation solutions that support high-quality software delivery.
This role is ideal for a seasoned automation professional who has deep expertise in Playwright with TypeScript, experience building robust automation frameworks, and a strong understanding of quality engineering practices. You will contribute to automation strategy, framework enhancements, CI/CD integration, and continuous quality improvement while working in a collaborative Agile environment. The position also offers the opportunity to leverage modern AI-assisted tools such as GitHub Copilot and Microsoft Copilot to accelerate test design, automation development, and overall engineering productivity.
In This Role, You Will
Develop and maintain Web UI automation solutions using Playwright with TypeScript and contribute to automation framework initiatives.
Apply your experience in QA, test automation, or SDET practices to support quality engineering objectives.
Build and enhance automated test coverage for modern web applications.
Perform API testing using Rest Assured and support end-to-end testing across multiple integrated systems.
Work with CI/CD pipelines to enable automated test execution and continuous quality validation.
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, leveraging strong communication and teamwork skills.
Utilize Generative AI tools such as Copilot and work within Agile methodologies to support efficient software delivery.
Work Model

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2-3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Charlotte, NC. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 9+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, Test Automation, or Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) roles.
- Strong hands-on experience in Web UI Automation using Playwright with TypeScript, including framework design and maintenance.
- Proven experience building scalable, reusable, and maintainable automation frameworks using Page Object Model (POM), Data-Driven, Hybrid, or BDD frameworks.
- Solid experience in API Automation Testing using Rest Assured, Postman, and REST service validation.
- Experience designing and executing end-to-end test automation across multiple integrated applications and platforms.
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, SDLC, STLC, defect management, and quality engineering best practices.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, and automated test execution pipelines.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, participating in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Knowledge of source control systems such as Git and collaboration tools including Jira and Confluence.
- Experience leveraging Generative AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar AI-assisted testing and development tools to improve productivity and test generation.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.

Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until September 27th , 2026.
The annual salary for this position is between $53,000 - $92,500 depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
