About the role
As a GCP Data Architect, you will make an impact by designing and optimizing scalable cloud-based data architectures that enable advanced analytics, operational visibility, and data-driven decision-making across transportation and logistics operations. You will be a valued member of the Data & Analytics team and work collaboratively with business stakeholders, supply chain leaders, data engineers, and cross-functional technology teams.
In this role, you will:
- Design and deliver end-to-end data architecture solutions leveraging BigQuery, Cloud SQL, AlloyDB, and Python to support large-scale transportation and logistics analytics.
- Develop scalable data models and high-performance query strategies that enable shipment tracking, route optimization, operational reporting, and forecasting.
- Build and optimize data ingestion frameworks using Python and BigQuery APIs, integrating data from enterprise systems, telematics platforms, and third-party logistics partners.
- Establish data governance, security, quality, and performance standards while ensuring reliable, cost-effective, and compliant cloud data operations.
- Partner with business and technology stakeholders to translate complex logistics requirements into scalable architecture solutions that improve operational efficiency and delivery performance.
Work model

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week in a client or Cognizant office in Parsippany, NJ. What you need to have to be considered
- 10+ years of experience designing and implementing enterprise data architecture and analytics solutions.
- Strong expertise with Google Cloud Platform, including BigQuery, Cloud SQL, AlloyDB, and BigQuery APIs.
- Advanced Python development experience focused on data engineering, automation, and data quality frameworks.
- Experience architecting large-scale data platforms supporting transportation, logistics, supply chain, or related operational environments.
- Proven ability to design high-performance data models, optimize cloud data storage, and support real-time and batch analytics workloads.
- Experience defining data governance, security, privacy, and compliance standards across cloud-based data ecosystems.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
These will help you stand out
- Experience supporting transportation management, fleet operations, warehouse management, or supply chain analytics platforms.
- Knowledge of logistics KPIs, route optimization methodologies, shipment tracking solutions, and operational forecasting.
- Experience working with telematics, IoT, or real-time streaming data sources.
- Familiarity with cloud-native monitoring, observability, and incident management practices.
- Experience evaluating and implementing emerging cloud data technologies to improve operational efficiency and business outcomes.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $88,000 - $155,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
