As a Storage & Backup Architect, you will define enterprise storage, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery architecture for on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments. This is an Architect-level position requiring 12-15+ years of relevant experience, supporting our client's infrastructure and digital workplace services in Finland.

About the Team / Business Unit
This role sits within our client's Infrastructure and Digital Workplace Services organisation, delivered by Cognizant as part of an updated enterprise support model. The team is responsible for the Storage, Backup & Data Resilience tower, working closely with security, service management, and business stakeholders to keep the client's technology estate resilient, secure, and future-ready across Finland.
About You:
You bring deep expertise across SAN, NAS, and cloud storage platforms, along with backup, replication, and disaster recovery design. You are experienced in leading data centre migration and storage modernisation initiatives, and comfortable engaging with vendors and stakeholders on architecture governance.
Your Key Result Areas:
• Define storage and backup strategy, standards, target architecture, and technology roadmaps.
• Design SAN, NAS, object, software-defined, archival, and cloud storage solutions.
• Design backup and recovery services using platforms such as Veeam, NetBackup, and Azure Recovery Services.
• Develop recovery patterns, RPO/RTO alignment, replication, business continuity, and DR execution approaches.
• Lead data centre migration, storage modernisation, platform consolidation, and lifecycle initiatives.
• Perform capacity planning, performance optimisation, resilience assessment, and cost optimisation.
• Embed encryption, access control, data protection, retention, and GDPR-aligned compliance controls.
• Provide architecture governance, vendor coordination, technical workshops, and operational handover documentation.
Required & nice to have Skills:
Must Haves:
1.) 12-15+ years of hands-on experience as a Storage & Backup Architect (or equivalent Architect role) within enterprise infrastructure environments.
2.) Strong working knowledge of SAN, NAS, object and cloud storage and Veeam, NetBackup, Azure Recovery Services.
3.) Demonstrated experience in Replication, backup, recovery and DR.
4.) Working knowledge of Azure hybrid environments.
5.) Ability to work within enterprise change, incident, problem, security, audit, and service management (ITSM) controls.
6.) Strong ownership, analytical troubleshooting, stakeholder communication, and documentation discipline.
