About the role
As a Data Engineer - Azure Data Factory (ADF) & Snowflake, you will make an impact by designing, building, and supporting cloud data pipelines that ingest data from multiple source systems into Snowflake using Azure Data Factory. This role covers end-to-end delivery, from source analysis and data modeling through pipeline development, performance tuning, and production support. You will be a valued member of the Data Engineering team and work collaboratively with data architects, BI teams, and business stakeholders.
In this role, you will:
• Build and orchestrate ingestion and transformation pipelines in Azure Data Factory using mapping and data flows, linked services, datasets, triggers, and parameterized, metadata-driven frameworks.
• Develop and optimize Snowflake objects including databases, schemas, tables, views, streams, tasks, stored procedures, and Snowpipe-based loads.
• Write complex SQL for transformation logic, implement SCD Type 1 and Type 2 patterns, and tune warehouse sizing, clustering, and query performance for cost efficiency.
• Integrate ADF with Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Azure SQL, Key Vault, Logic Apps, and Databricks or Synapse where required.
• Implement CI/CD for ADF and Snowflake through Azure DevOps or GitHub, along with monitoring, alerting, and data quality and reconciliation checks.

What you need to have to be considered
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory and Snowflake (4+ years).
• Advanced SQL and data warehousing concepts, including dimensional modeling, star and snowflake schemas, and ELT design patterns.
• Working knowledge of Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Key Vault.
• Experience with Python or PySpark for data processing, along with Git-based version control and CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of performance tuning, cost optimization, and data security, including RBAC, masking, and row-level access policies.

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $115,000-$135,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
