About the role

As a GCP Architect, you will make an impact by designing and optimizing cloud-based data solutions for transportation and logistics operations, translating complex business needs into scalable, secure, and reliable data platforms built on GCP, AlloyDB, Python, and BigQuery. You will be a valued member of the Data Engineering team and work collaboratively with business stakeholders, analytics teams, and data science partners.

In this role, you will:

• Design and architect scalable cloud data platforms on GCP that support complex transportation and logistics workloads while ensuring high performance, availability, and alignment with enterprise standards.

• Develop and optimize data models in AlloyDB and BigQuery that accurately represent transportation orders, shipments, routes, and logistics events to enable reliable analytics and reporting.

• Build and maintain efficient Python-based data pipelines that ingest, cleanse, transform, and validate operational data from multiple logistics systems to create trusted datasets for downstream use.

• Define and enforce data governance practices, including data quality frameworks, metadata standards, and access controls tailored to transportation and logistics business processes.

• Optimize query performance and resource utilization in BigQuery and AlloyDB by refining schemas, tuning configurations, and applying proven cost management techniques.

Work model

Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2-3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Parsippany, NJ. What you need to have to be considered

• 10+ years of experience with GCP BigQuery and AlloyDB

• 10+ years of experience in GCP design & architecture and GCP cloud solutions

• 10+ years of experience with Python

• 10+ years of project management experience

• Experience creating detailed solution design documentation covering ingestion, storage, processing, analytics, and security

These will help you stand out

• Experience implementing event-driven and batch data workflows for near real-time shipment tracking, network planning, and exception management

• Background supporting compliance with regulatory and customer data requirements through secure architectures and data retention strategies

• Experience mentoring junior data engineers on GCP, Python, AlloyDB, and BigQuery best practices

Salary and Other Compensation

Applications will be accepted until October 16,2026.

The annual salary for this position is between $130,000- $150,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
