About the role

As a Full Stack Developer, you will make an impact by designing, developing, and enhancing scalable web applications and enterprise-grade digital solutions. You will be a valued member of the Application Development team and work collaboratively with architects, UI/UX designers, product owners, DevOps engineers, QA teams, and other technology stakeholders to deliver secure, high-performing, and reliable applications

In this role, you will

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications, APIs, and microservices using Node.js and modern development frameworks.
  • Build responsive, intuitive, and high-performing front-end applications using Vue.js, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript technologies.
  • Develop, integrate, and optimize RESTful APIs and third-party services to support business-critical applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Ensure application security, performance, scalability, and reliability through code reviews, testing, debugging, and continuous improvement initiatives

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Halifax, Canada. What you need to have to be considered

  • Strong experience developing full stack applications using Node.js, Vue.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript (ES6+).
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs, microservices, and service-oriented architectures.
  • Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing authentication, authorization, and secure coding best practices.
  • Strong understanding of TypeScript, including interfaces, classes, reusable modules, and type-safe application development.
  • Experience with state management solutions such as Vuex or Pinia.
  • Proven ability to write clean, reusable, maintainable, and well-documented code while adhering to coding standards.
  • Experience troubleshooting, debugging, and optimizing application performance across front-end and back-end systems.
  • Knowledge of responsive design principles, cross-browser compatibility, and mobile-first development practices.
  • Experience working within Agile development environments and participating in sprint planning, development, testing, and release activities.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across distributed teams.

These will help you stand out

  • Experience converting or modernizing legacy JavaScript applications into TypeScript-based solutions.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automated deployment processes.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Knowledge of automated testing frameworks and test-driven development practices.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Exposure to application performance monitoring, observability, and production support practices.
  • Passion for continuous learning and adopting emerging technologies and development best practices.

Salary and Other Compensation

Applications will be accepted until November 2nd, 2026.

We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between $74,250 – $117,500 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
