GCP Data Engineer

About the role

As a GCP Data Engineer, you will make an impact by designing and building scalable data pipelines and platforms on Google Cloud that ingest, transform, and store transportation and logistics data, enabling faster and more reliable operational decision making. You will be a valued member of the Data Engineering team and work collaboratively with cross-functional operations and planning stakeholders.

In this role, you will:

• Design and implement scalable data pipelines on GCP that ingest, transform, and store transportation and logistics data to support analytics and operational reporting across the enterprise.

• Develop efficient and maintainable Python code for data processing, validation, and automation, ensuring reliable end-to-end data workflows and reduced operational overhead.

• Architect and optimize AlloyDB schemas, indexes, and query patterns tailored to transportation and logistics datasets to deliver high-performance transactional and analytical workloads.

• Configure and manage Google Cloud Pub/Sub messaging solutions to support near real-time, event-driven data integration between logistics systems, tracking platforms, and analytical applications.

• Utilize GCP BigQuery to design performant data models, partitioning strategies, and materialized views that enable fast and cost-effective analytics on large-scale transportation data.

Work model

Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2-3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Parsippany, NJ. Regardless of your working arrangement, we are here to support a healthy work-life balance through our various wellbeing programs.

What you need to have to be considered

• 7+ years of experience with Google Cloud Pub/Sub, GCP BigQuery, and Google Cloud Monitoring

• 7+ years of experience with Python programming and optimization techniques

• 5+ years of experience with AlloyDB

• Hands-on experience with GCP services, including Compute Engine

• Understanding of performance testing concepts

These will help you stand out

• Experience implementing observability using Google Cloud Monitoring to track pipeline health, resource utilization, and application metrics

• Background establishing data quality standards, validation rules, and monitoring dashboards for shipment tracking, order management, or inventory visibility

• Experience mentoring peers on GCP best practices and cloud-native data patterns

Salary and Other Compensation

Applications will be accepted until October 16,2026

The annual salary for this position is between $110,000 - $123,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
