Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Java Developer to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade applications using Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and cloud-native technologies. This role will focus on building scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions that support critical business operations and digital transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in distributed systems, cloud platforms, DevOps practices, API development, and modern software engineering methodologies. This position requires close collaboration with architects, product owners, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to deliver reliable and resilient enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities:

· Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and Microservices architecture.

· Build scalable, secure, and high-performance backend services supporting business-critical and high-volume transaction processing systems.

· Develop cloud-native solutions leveraging Azure and other cloud platforms for compute, storage, networking, monitoring, and security services.

· Design and implement distributed systems, service integration patterns, and event-driven architectures to ensure availability, resiliency, and scalability.

· Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and asynchronous integrations using technologies such as Kafka, JMS, RabbitMQ, or Azure Event Hub.

· Apply object-oriented design principles, software design patterns, and clean coding standards to build maintainable and extensible applications.

· Implement automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing to ensure software quality and reliability.

· Optimize application performance through code tuning, caching strategies, database optimization, and resource management.

· Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, technical discussions, and engineering governance activities.

· Implement observability and monitoring capabilities using logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, and APM tools.

· Support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices to enable reliable releases and automated deployments.

· Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement proactive improvements to enhance system stability and operational excellence.

Qualifications:

· 5–7 years of experience in enterprise software development with strong hands-on expertise in Java-based application development.

· Strong proficiency in Java 8/11/17 and the Spring ecosystem, including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, and Spring Data.

· Extensive experience designing and developing Microservices-based architectures and RESTful APIs.

· Strong understanding of distributed systems, API gateway patterns, service discovery, resiliency patterns, and event-driven architecture.

· Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.

· Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.

· Knowledge of messaging and streaming technologies including Kafka, JMS, RabbitMQ, or Azure Event Hub.

· Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cosmos DB.

· Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar DevOps platforms.

· Experience implementing automated testing using JUnit, Mockito, API testing tools, and software quality frameworks.

· Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, ELK, Grafana, Prometheus, Dynatrace, or Azure Application Insights.

· Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, secure coding, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $[113,000 - 132,500] depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
