About the role

As an Enterprise Architect (AD / Consulting Principal), you will make an impact by acting as the lead architect for defining and governing the target enterprise architecture across the application, data, integration, and cloud estate. You will provide architectural leadership across client engagements with a leading gas utility client operating in critical national infrastructure (CNI). You will shape strategy, roadmap, and technical debt reduction while ensuring that architectural decisions meet the highest standards of security, operational resilience, and CNI compliance.

In this role, you will:

  • Define and maintain the target-state architecture, principles, reference architectures, and transition roadmap.

  • Chair and contribute to the Technical Design Authority and architecture governance forums; assure solution designs against enterprise, security, and operational-resilience standards.

  • Own architectural decisions across the client's multi-hosting estate (GCP, on-prem, IBM, SaaS) and the integration landscape spanning SAP CPI/PO, Apigee, and Maximo.

  • Provide architecture input to the S/4HANA upgrade, ServiceNow enablement, and Maximo roadmap already in flight.

  • Ensure designs meet CNI and security compliance obligations, which are non-negotiable across the client's estate.

  • Act as the senior client-facing architecture authority to CIO and technology leadership, shaping strategy, roadmap, and technical debt reduction.

  • Support transition, knowledge capture, and the onshore/offshore delivery model, maintaining UK-based accountability for client-facing and CNI-sensitive activities.

Based on this role's business requirements, this is an on-site position based at the client's office in Warwick, UK, with UK-based accountability required for all client-facing and CNI-sensitive activities. What you must have to be considered

  • 15+ years of experience in IT, including senior enterprise architecture leadership on large, complex estates.

  • Proven experience across cloud, data, integration, and application architecture.

  • Gas Utility experience working within a Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) background is strongly required.

  • Strong stakeholder management at CIO and executive level, with proven consulting delivery experience.

  • UK-based, with the ability to work on-site in Warwick.

These will help you succeed

  • TOGAF certification or equivalent enterprise architecture qualification.

  • Experience defining target-state architectures, reference architectures, and multi-year transition roadmaps in complex, regulated environments.

  • Hands-on architectural exposure across GCP, on-prem, IBM, and SaaS hosting models.

  • Familiarity with integration platforms including SAP CPI/PO, Apigee, and Maximo.

  • Experience contributing to S/4HANA upgrades, ServiceNow enablement, and Maximo roadmaps.

  • Experience chairing or contributing to Technical Design Authorities and architecture governance forums.

  • Strong executive communication, facilitation, and client advisory skills at CIO level.

  • Ability to mentor teams, provide architectural leadership across onshore/offshore delivery, and manage complexity in CNI-regulated environments.

  • The ideal candidate is a senior enterprise architect with deep experience across cloud, data, integration, and application architecture in critical national infrastructure environments, particularly within the gas utility sector. They should combine strong technical authority with the executive presence to advise CIO and technology leadership, while shaping strategy, governance, and technical debt reduction across a complex multi-hosting estate.
