About the role

As a Senior Progress OpenEdge Developer, you will make an impact by designing, developing, and supporting scalable enterprise applications and integration-driven solutions using Progress OpenEdge technologies. You will be a valued member of the Cognizant delivery team and work collaboratively with business stakeholders, architects, and cross-functional IT teams to deliver high-quality, performance-optimized solutions for our clients.

In this role, you will:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise applications using Progress 4GL/OpenEdge.

  • Build and support SOAP and RESTful web services to enable internal and external system integrations.

  • Apply object-oriented OpenEdge programming principles, leveraging modern classes and design patterns.

  • Perform performance tuning, optimization, and scalability improvements across applications.

  • Provide production support, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis while maintaining technical documentation.

What you need to have to be considered

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in Progress OpenEdge application development.

  • Strong proficiency in Progress 4GL/OpenEdge 12.2 & 11.7, PASOE, AppServer, and GUI Programming.

  • Proven experience with object-oriented programming in OpenEdge.

  • Demonstrated expertise in SOAP/REST web services and system integrations.

  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills with excellent communication abilities.

These will help you stand out

  • Experience with HTML, JavaScript, and modern web-based technologies.

  • Experience with .NET OpenClient development.

  • Domain knowledge within Claims or Insurance systems.

  • Experience with API programming and integration design.

  • Working knowledge of SVN and SQL.

Salary and Other Compensation

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
