About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Java FSE with 8+ years of experience in Java 15+, Spring boot Microservices, and Kafka and MQ. This role is critical in designing and implementing scalable, efficient, and secure front-end solutions that align with business goals. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with leadership skills to drive innovation, mentor teams, and ensure delivery excellence.

In this role, you will:

· Design, develop, and maintain scalable and high-performance Java 15+ applications using advanced Java technologies and frameworks.

· Develop and manage microservices using Spring Boot 3.5.

· Build and deploy containerized applications using Docker in a cloud-native environment.

· Implement event-driven architectures and work with Kafka and MQ for real-time messaging and event management.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver high-quality software solutions.

· Troubleshoot, optimize, and refactor code to improve performance, scalability, and security.

· Stay up-to-date with the latest Java frameworks, tools, and cloud technologies.

· Follow best practices in software development, including testing, code reviews, and documentation.

Work model: Hybrid

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position open to qualified applicants in New York, NY or Jersey City, NJ, requesting X days at office per week. What you need to have to be considered:

· 8 + years of hands-on experience in Java 15+ development with a strong understanding of advanced Java concepts.

· Proficiency in building REST, microservices using Spring Boot 3.3.5.

· Hands-on experience with Docker for containerization and working in a cloud-native environment.

· Strong expertise in Kafka and MQ for message queuing and event-driven systems.

· Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases.

· Experience with version control tools such as Git and familiarity with Agile methodologies.

· Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

· Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

These will help you stand out:

· Hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.

· Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools.

· Knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration.

· Experience with JUnit, Mockito, and other testing frameworks.

· Strong in UI (Angular 19+ or RxJS) skills.

Salary and compensation:

The annual salary for this position will be between $81,000 to $135,000 depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
