As a Chief Java Architect, you will make an impact by leading the architectural vision, technology strategy, and successful delivery of large-scale enterprise platforms undergoing transformation and modernization. You will be a valued member of the architecture and engineering leadership team, working collaboratively with client executives, engineering leaders, product teams, cloud specialists, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver innovative, scalable, and resilient solutions.

In This Role, You Will:
- Define and drive the end-to-end architecture strategy for enterprise applications built on Java, Spring Boot, AWS, and modern distributed systems.
- Lead large-scale platform modernization initiatives, including cloud-native transformation, application migration, and integration of event-driven architectures.
- Establish architectural standards, governance frameworks, and best practices that ensure scalability, security, performance, and maintainability.
- Oversee complex program transitions and knowledge transfer activities while ensuring uninterrupted service delivery and operational stability.
- Partner with executive stakeholders and engineering teams to align technology investments, delivery objectives, and long-term business goals.
What You Need to Have to Be Considered
- Extensive experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale applications using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and microservices architectures.
- Deep expertise building and operating cloud-native solutions on AWS, including services such as ECS, EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, IAM, and related cloud technologies.
- Strong experience implementing event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka or comparable messaging and streaming platforms.
- Hands-on knowledge of MongoDB and distributed data architectures, including schema design, scalability, and performance optimization.
- Proven success leading large-scale transformation programs, cloud migrations, and complex technology transitions while maintaining service level commitments.
- Experience establishing architecture governance, engineering standards, and delivery oversight across multiple technology teams.
- Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence business and technology leaders.
- Demonstrated experience managing large technology programs including resource planning, delivery management, and financial oversight.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

- Experience working in highly complex, global enterprise environments supporting mission-critical platforms.
- Proficiency with Python for backend services, automation, data processing, or AI/ML-related initiatives.
- Expertise in software architecture patterns, domain-driven design, and distributed systems design principles.
- Experience leading technology organizations through vendor transitions, operating model transformations, or large-scale modernization efforts.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and cloud security best practices.
- Industry experience within travel, transportation, or other large-scale customer-facing technology environments.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $102,000 – $180,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
