About the role
As a Product Management Consultant – Retail Store Systems & Labor Optimization, you will make an impact by leading the strategy and execution of client’s store scheduling and workforce management (WFM) platforms. You will be a valued member of the consulting team and work collaboratively with managers, primary teams, and other stakeholders and clients.
In this role, you will:
- Define the multi-year product roadmap for retail scheduling systems, ensuring alignment with overall enterprise business goals, compliance laws, and operational budgets.
- Conduct user research with store managers, regional leads, and associates to translate their pain points into actionable product requirements.
- Partner with Data Science and Operations teams to build predictive scheduling models that accurately forecast labor demands while adhering to local labor laws.
- Serve as the strategic bridge between IT Engineering, Data Science, Retail Operations, and Corporate Finance.
- Own the roll-out strategy for system updates, ensuring store operations teams are equipped for high adoption rates and minimizing friction during product launches.
Work model

Based on this role’s business requirements, this position requires 2-3 days a week in a client office in New York, NY. What you must have to be considered
- Experience working inside retail stores (as an associate, team lead, or store manager), with firsthand knowledge of how scheduling impacts morale, turnover, and customer experience.
- 5+ years of experience managing complex B2B or enterprise SaaS products, specifically in Workforce Management (WFM), Human Capital Management (HCM), or Retail Operations Tech.
- Proven ability to own a domain using strategic frameworks, making decisive, data-driven product choices while empowering cross-functional experts.
- Comfort working with complex algorithmic systems, demand forecasting models, and integrations with modern WFM systems.
- Strong capability to analyze labor metrics, operational KPIs, and financial impact models to prove product ROI to executive stakeholders.

- Deep cognitive empathy and the ability to conduct user research that translates operational pain points into actionable product requirements.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and serving as a strategic bridge between technical and business stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success in change management and driving high adoption rates for new systems in retail environments.
- Analytical skills to evaluate labor optimization models and compliance with local labor laws.
- A vivid understanding of the store environment and the ability to balance business needs with associate experience.

Compensation
- $135,000 - $160,000
- This position is eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans
