ServiceNow CMDB Engineer

00069967471

As a ServiceNow CMDB Engineer, you will make an impact by designing, configuring, and optimizing ServiceNow CMDB and CSDM to support reliable, resilient infrastructure operations. You will combine structured data modeling, automation, and governance with core data analyst functions such as collecting, managing, and presenting configuration and operational data. In doing so, you will strengthen service visibility, streamline incident and change processes, and enable better, faster decision making for global enterprise clients. You will be a valued member of the Cloud Infrastructure and Security team, working closely and collaboratively with the Manager of CIS IT Workflows.

In this role, you will
• Design scalable ServiceNow CMDB configurations and CSDM-aligned data models that map infrastructure, applications, and services for clear operational visibility and consistent governance
• Configure and optimize discovery patterns and data ingestion processes to keep configuration items accurate and current across environments
• Manage CMDB master data, user access, and roles across the platform
• Identify and resolve data quality issues, reducing inconsistencies, duplicates, and missing attributes, including QA of imported data
• Partner with platform, network, cloud, and application teams to translate requirements into robust CMDB class structures and relationships
• Build automation workflows that streamline configuration updates, reducing manual effort and operational risk
• Establish and document CMDB governance, including naming conventions, attribute standards, and lifecycle rules
• Integrate CMDB and CSDM with incident, change, and problem processes to speed up impact assessment and issue resolution
• Deliver reporting and dashboards on configuration health, dependencies, and compliance, and conduct regular audits, reconciliation, and troubleshooting to keep data accurate
• Guide teams on onboarding new services using CSDM concepts, support security and compliance reporting needs, evaluate new or upgraded software, train end users, and document standards and procedures for knowledge sharing

Required skills
• 5+ years of experience in infrastructure development, ServiceNow platform roles, or data analysis, with a strong focus on CMDB implementation for enterprise environments
• Deep understanding of ServiceNow CMDB concepts, including configuration item classes, relationships, discovery sources, reconciliation, and data quality management
• Practical experience implementing and maintaining CSDM versions in production environments like business, application, and technical services
• Strong skills in scripting or configuration of ServiceNow components such as discovery, service mapping, and Integration Hub for data ingestion from multiple tools
• Familiarity with ITSM processes such as incident, change, problem, asset management and how CMDB data supports each
• Proven ability to analyze complex infrastructure architectures spanning on-prem and cloud, and translate them into maintainable CMDB models and reports

Preferred skills
• Strong communication skills with technical and nontechnical stakeholders to explain data, design decisions, and operational impacts
• Experience working in hybrid environments and collaborating across distributed teams using structured documentation and collaboration tools
• Value inclusive teamwork and continuous improvement, mentoring peers and refining standards based on feedback
