About the Role
As a Java Technical Lead, you will make an impact by designing, developing, and optimizing scalable enterprise applications and services that support critical business operations and deliver exceptional customer experiences. You will be a valued member of the Digital Engineering team and work collaboratively with architects, product owners, DevOps teams, and fellow engineers to deliver secure, high-quality software solutions.

In This Role, You Will:
Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-scale Java applications, microservices, and backend services using modern frameworks and engineering best practices.
Collaborate with architects, product owners, and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions and implementation plans.
Build and integrate APIs, databases, messaging platforms, and third-party systems to ensure secure and reliable data exchange.
Improve application performance, scalability, and reliability through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, optimization, and root cause analysis.
Contribute to engineering excellence through automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Denver, Colorado. What You Need to Have to Be Considered
Strong hands-on experience developing applications using Java, J2EE, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.
Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs, microservices, and enterprise integrations.
Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, messaging technologies, and distributed systems.
Experience with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito and working within CI/CD environments using tools such as Git, Maven, and Jenkins.
Proven ability to troubleshoot, debug, and optimize complex applications in production environments.
These Will Help You Stand Out
Experience with cloud-native architectures and containerized deployments.
Knowledge of event-driven architectures and messaging platforms.
Familiarity with DevOps practices, infrastructure automation, and release management.
Experience supporting high-availability, customer-facing enterprise platforms.
Strong communication, collaboration, and technical mentoring skills.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $81,337 to $141,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
