Oracle Platform Operations & Patching Engineer
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Oracle Platform Operations & Patching Engineer to provide Day 2 operational support, patch management, and platform maintenance for enterprise Oracle environments. The role involves managing Oracle security patching activities, supporting middleware and database platforms, vulnerability remediation, and ensuring platform stability across development, testing, and production environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Oracle Critical Patch Update (CPU) assessments, planning, deployment, validation, and post-patch stabilization.
- Support Oracle Middleware technologies including:
- Oracle HTTP Server (OHS)
- Oracle WebLogic Server
- Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF)
- Oracle Forms and Reports
- Support Oracle Database environments, including Data Guard configurations.
- Manage Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) patching and operations.
- Conduct compatibility, dependency, and risk assessments prior to patch implementation.
- Develop patching schedules, implementation plans, rollback procedures, and validation activities.
- Execute patch deployments and ensure service availability during maintenance activities.
- Perform post-patch health checks, troubleshooting, and stabilization support.
- Support vulnerability assessment remediation and security hardening initiatives.
- Coordinate with Oracle Support for issue investigation and resolution.
- Maintain patching documentation, operational procedures, and implementation records.
- Participate in after-hours and weekend maintenance activities when required.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience administering Oracle environments.
- Strong experience with:
- Oracle WebLogic Server
- Oracle HTTP Server
- Oracle Forms and Reports
- Oracle Database 19c or higher
- Oracle Data Guard
- Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
- Experience performing Oracle CPU and security patching activities.
- Strong understanding of backup, recovery, rollback, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Experience supporting production-critical enterprise systems.
- Knowledge of change management, release management, and operational governance processes.
- Strong troubleshooting and incident management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Oracle certifications are advantageous.
- Experience working in regulated or large enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with vulnerability management and security remediation practices.
- Experience managing Oracle Service Requests (SRs) and vendor support engagements.
