We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Conversion Engineer (Core Banking) with 10+ years of experience supporting financial institution conversions involving core banking platforms. This role is responsible for analyzing, transforming, validating, and converting banking data from legacy and competitive systems into core banking applications, including Deposits, Loans, Customer Information Systems, and related banking products.
In this role, you will:
· Support financial institution conversions from competing banking platforms to the organization's core banking system.
· Collaborate with Business Analysts, Implementation Teams, and clients to gather and understand conversion requirements.
· Design, develop, and maintain specialized conversion programs to meet client-specific data migration needs.
· Analyze and interpret conversion data files received from multiple banking vendors and third-party systems.
· Transform, cleanse, validate, and load data into core banking applications while ensuring data integrity.
· Investigate conversion exceptions and errors, identify root causes, and implement corrective solutions.

What you need to have to be considered
· 10+ years of experience in Core Banking implementations and conversion projects, supporting banking applications such as Deposits, Loans, Customer Information Files (CIF), and related banking products.
· Strong experience analyzing, mapping, transforming, and converting large volumes of financial data.
· Knowledge of structured COBOL programming techniques with general understanding of IMS and/or DB2 DBMS
· Knowledge of IBM z/OS operating environment, including JCL, TSO, ISPF, VSAM, SYNCSORT, Expediter, Insync, and VISION, Results (DYL280)
· Strong understanding of data files, including packed numeric, binary, EBCDIC, ASCII, and FTP
Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $ 65,447 to $ 117,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
