We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to design, development, and delivery of enterprise-grade software solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, SQL, and Jira, along with proven experience through the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). This role requires a blend of technical leadership, solution design, hands-on coding, mentoring, and stakeholder collaboration to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality applications.
What you will do
· Execute all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
· Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications using Java and Spring Boot frameworks.
· Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams, ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards.
· Conduct detailed code reviews and promote high-quality, maintainable, and secure code.
· Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across development, testing, and production environments.
· Evaluate and recommend appropriate Java frameworks, tools, technologies, and design patterns.
What we expect
· 8+ years of experience in software development with strong expertise in Java technologies.
· Hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful API development.
· Strong SQL skills with experience in database design, optimisation, and query tuning.
· Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments using Jira.
· Solid understanding of object-oriented design principles, design patterns, and software engineering best practices.

Salary and Other Compensation:
We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between $ 61650– $ 91000 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
Working arrangements
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3-4 days a week in a client office in Toronto, ON. Regardless of your working arrangement, we are here to support a healthy work-life balance though our various wellbeing programs.
