Based on this role's business requirements, this is an onsite position requiring 5 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Mountain View, CA.
As a Hardware Program Coordinator, you will make an impact by supporting the development of XR glasses hardware platforms and contributing to the overall execution of the team. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to help build, validate, and launch system solutions while supporting development schedules, build milestones, and manufacturability goals.
You will be a valued member of the Cognizant team and work collaboratively with the AR/VR hardware engineering teams, stakeholders, and development partners.
In this role, you will:
Support the development of XR glasses hardware platforms and contribute to the tactical execution of the team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, validate, and launch system solutions.
- Assist in managing development risks and issues to meet system build milestones, cost, and manufacturability.
- Support product development processes and phase gate reviews with cross-functional teams.
- Help develop and manage program schedules and resource needs with engineering and operations teams.
- Communicate project status to stakeholders and leadership.
- Support resolution of key technical issues.
- Interface with development partners and cross-functional engineering and operations teams, supporting build schedules, budgets, and performance tracking.
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements to streamline product development.
- Support international build activities at supplier and manufacturing partner sites as needed.
- Assist in managing program budgets and tracking spend.
- Support JDM partner coordination and help maintain development partnerships.
What you need to have to be considered (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering and/or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in hardware program coordination, NPI operations, or product design engineering.
Experience with AR/VR or XR hardware programs.
- Consumer Electronics hardware experience.
- Experience in product development and phase gate approach (EVT, DVT, PVT).
- Experience in hardware NPI build management.
- Familiarity with BOM management, build matrix coordination, and material readiness.
- Ability to support international build activities as required (up to 20%).
Preferred Qualifications:
Note: Having as many of these specific qualifications is a plus, but transferable skills/experiences may be equally valuable.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong team player and creative thinker who is able to collaborate with technical teams, cross-functional groups, and vendors.
- Ability to manage several tasks at once and do whatever it takes to ship a product.
- Experience supporting high volume and high quality product launches.
- Strong ability to capture the big picture quickly and focus on key points.
- Passion for improving processes, plans, and all things that are simply broken.
- Knowledge of product life cycle, tools, processes and operations planning.
- Prior experience working with JDM or ODM manufacturing partners.
Salary and Other Compensation:
The rate for this position is between $84,000 - $86,000, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus based on experience and qualifications
