Senior Java Full Stack Developer

As a Senior Java Full Stack Developer, you will make an impact by designing and delivering scalable, secure, and high-performing microservices that support critical business applications and digital platforms. You will be a valued member of the engineering team and work collaboratively with product owners, architects, DevOps teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to build resilient enterprise solutions that enhance customer experiences and platform reliability.

In This Role, You Will:

• Design and develop robust microservices using Java and Spring Boot to deliver scalable, maintainable, and reliable backend services.
• Build and optimize PostgreSQL database solutions, including schema design, query tuning, and performance improvements for business-critical applications.
• Develop secure RESTful APIs and integrations that support internal and external consumers while ensuring data protection and operational reliability.
• Partner with product owners, architects, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Drive code quality through automated testing, code reviews, production troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You Need to Have to Be Considered

• 8 – 14 years of experience designing and developing enterprise applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong expertise in microservices architecture, distributed systems, and RESTful API development.
• Advanced experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, indexing strategies, query optimization, and performance tuning.
• Hands-on experience with SQL development in PostgreSQL, PL/SQL, or MySQL environments.
• Strong understanding of Core Java concepts, including concurrency, collections, object-oriented design, and performance optimization.
• Experience implementing automated testing, CI/CD practices, and modern software development methodologies.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and perform root cause analysis across application and database layers.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills within Agile and cross-functional environments.

• Experience working within high-tech industries, SaaS platforms, or large-scale digital product ecosystems.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies and cloud-native deployment practices.
• Experience with database modernization, performance engineering, and large-scale transaction processing systems.
• Familiarity with secure software development practices, application security, and data protection controls.
• Experience mentoring engineers and promoting engineering best practices across teams.
• Exposure to DevOps, observability, monitoring, and CI/CD automation tools.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $68,000 – $135,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
