About the role
As a Banking & Financial Services Consultant (Domain Expert, Business Development), you will make an impact by translating deep Banking & Financial Services domain knowledge into compelling value propositions, driving revenue growth, and serving as a trusted advisor across complex CX-CRM sales cycles. You will be a valued member of the Banking & Financial Services Business Development team and work collaboratively with consulting, technology, and delivery stakeholders, and clients.
In this role, you will
Act as the subject matter expert across major Banking & Financial Services lines of business throughout the end-to-end pursuit lifecycle, spanning retail banking, commercial and corporate banking, wealth management, capital markets, cards and payments, and asset and investment management.
Design and deliver customised pitches and solution demonstrations that articulate ROI and strategic differentiation for retail banks, commercial and investment banks, credit unions, asset managers, insurers, and fintech organisations.
Lead and coordinate cross-functional proposal teams, aligning consulting, technology, and delivery stakeholders to craft winning proposals.
Develop and execute account growth strategies across existing client portfolios, maximising wallet share and client satisfaction.
Act as the BFS expert within CX-CRM pursuits, ensuring proposed CRM solutions are designed around KYC, AML, consent management, and data privacy requirements from the outset.
Work model

Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Bangalore, Chennai or Hyderabad. What you must have to be considered
Experience in business development, sales, or client management within banking, financial services, or consulting, with a demonstrated track record of independently closing large, complex deals in BFSI.
Deep understanding of financial products across retail and corporate banking, treasury, wealth management, and capital markets.
Proficiency in consultative selling methodologies (such as SPIN or Challenger), with excellent communication, presentation, and executive stakeholder engagement skills.
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to model business cases and ROI frameworks.
Familiarity with BFS compliance and regulatory requirements (KYC/AML, GDPR/CCPA data privacy and consent, and US/EU/UK banking and financial regulator guidelines) and how they shape CRM solution design and customer journeys.
These will help you succeed
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline; MBA or CFA preferred.
Experience with digital transformation, core banking modernisation, or regtech/fintech solutions.
Familiarity with North American (US/Canada) and European (EU/UK) banking and financial services regulatory frameworks, gained through client-facing or regulator-facing engagements.
Good working knowledge of one or more CRM platforms such as Salesforce Financial Services Cloud, Temenos CRM, Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Financial Services), Oracle CX for Financial Services, Pega, or Creatio.
Awareness of emerging Banking technology trends including Agentic AI and next-gen AI virtual assistants, hyper-personalisation, unified omnichannel journeys, and consent-based CRM; compliance/privacy certifications such as CAMS, CRCM, or CIPP/E are an advantage.
