Job Summary
This role focuses on delivering high quality medical coding services for healthcare products in a hybrid work model ensuring accurate translation of clinical documentation into standardized codes to support compliance billing integrity and patient care outcomes. The specialist will apply deep domain expertise in medical coding and healthcare product workflows to reduce errors optimize claim processing and strengthen the organization commitment to ethical and efficient healthcare operations.
Responsibilities
- Apply advanced medical coding knowledge to review clinical documentation for healthcare products and assign accurate standardized codes that support compliant reimbursement and reliable clinical data reporting.
- Ensure all coded records align with current payer guidelines and organizational policies to minimize claim denials and rework while supporting sustainable revenue cycle performance.
- Review complex cases in healthcare product workflows and clarify ambiguous documentation with relevant stakeholders to promote coding accuracy and data integrity.
- Monitor coding quality trends across assigned work queues and implement corrective actions that reduce recurring errors and improve overall process reliability.
- Collaborate with clinicians and operations teams to explain coding requirements in clear terms that enable better documentation and streamlined product related workflows.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of medical coding regulations and healthcare product standards and apply this knowledge proactively to daily assignments.
- Conduct self audits on coded records using internal quality checklists and share insights that help refine coding guidelines and operational procedures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting practical enhancements to templates rules and reference materials that simplify accurate coding for healthcare products.
- Support timely resolution of coding related queries from internal teams by providing precise evidence based responses that prevent future issues and delays.
- Use coding and healthcare domain expertise to assist in root cause analysis of claim rejections and develop actionable recommendations that reduce financial leakage.
- Participate in training or knowledge sharing sessions by offering real world examples from medical coding practice that strengthen team capability and consistency.
- Adapt work planning to the hybrid model by effectively using digital tools and secure systems to manage workloads while maintaining confidentiality and productivity.
- Align daily coding activities with organizational purpose by enabling accurate data for clinical research patient safety analytics and responsible healthcare decision making.
Qualifications
- Possess professional experience in medical coding within healthcare settings for at least two years demonstrating consistent accuracy and adherence to established standards.
- Bring hands on expertise in healthcare products including familiarity with product specific workflows documentation patterns and coding implications across the care continuum.
- Demonstrate strong understanding of clinical terminology and coding conventions which enables accurate translation of narrative documentation into standardized code sets.
- Show proven ability to interpret payer and regulatory guidelines and apply them correctly to coding decisions across diverse medical specialties.
- Display proficiency with common coding and billing systems and electronic health record platforms enabling efficient navigation and reliable data capture.
- Exhibit solid analytical skills and attention to detail that support detection of inconsistencies in documentation and prevention of coding related defects.
- Communicate clearly with clinical operations and billing teams using neutral inclusive language that fosters collaboration and shared understanding of coding requirements.
- Manage workload effectively in a day shift hybrid environment by organizing tasks tracking priorities and meeting productivity and quality targets consistently.
Certifications Required
Certified Professional Coder or equivalent medical coding certification from a recognized body is preferred and strongly supports success in this role.
