Senior .NET Core Azure Developer (Hybrid)
About the Role
As a Senior .NET Core Azure Developer, you will make an impact by designing, developing, and optimizing large-scale, high-performance backend services and APIs that support critical digital applications. You will be a valued member of the Engineering team and work collaboratively with architects, product owners, developers, cloud engineers, and client stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and resilient cloud-native solutions
In This Role, You Will
- Design, develop, and maintain large-scale .NET Core APIs and microservices capable of handling high transaction volumes and sub-second response times.
- Build and support event-driven architectures using Pub/Sub messaging patterns and Azure Functions.
- Develop and deploy cloud-native solutions leveraging Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Cosmos DB, Redis Cache, and Azure Storage services.
- Implement scalable multi-region Azure solutions with a focus on availability, resiliency, and performance optimization.
- Develop and optimize database solutions using Microsoft SQL Server and Cosmos DB to support enterprise-scale applications.
- Monitor application health, performance, and reliability through logging, alerting, and observability best practices.
- Collaborate directly with clients, business partners, and cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions.
- Drive continuous improvements in application architecture, performance, security, and operational excellence.
Work Model

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring attendance in a Cognizant or client office as needed. The preferred location is Halifax, Nova Scotia, although qualified applicants from anywhere in Canada will be considered. What You Need to Have to Be Considered
- Strong hands-on experience developing enterprise-scale applications using.NET Core / ASP.NET Core.
- Proven expertise designing and building large-scale REST APIs and microservices architectures.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, including Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Cosmos DB, Azure Storage, and related cloud services.
- Experience implementing event-driven architectures utilizing Pub/Sub, messaging, or event streaming frameworks.
- Strong database development and performance tuning experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience developing and supporting multi-region, highly available cloud solutions.
- Hands-on experience with application monitoring, logging, alerting, and performance optimization.
- Excellent client-facing communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills.
These Will Help You Stand Out
- Experience with Redis Cache and distributed caching strategies.
- Experience supporting high-volume applications requiring sub-second performance and low latency.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in Azure environments.
- Experience with cloud security, scalability, and performance engineering best practices.
Salary and Other Compensation

We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between $70,000.00 – $91,000 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
