About the role
As a Technical Lead Architect, you will make an impact by leading the design, modernization, and delivery of enterprise-scale platforms while driving technical excellence across cloud-native and distributed systems. You will be a valued member of the engineering leadership team and work collaboratively with client stakeholders, product owners, architects, developers, DevOps teams, and delivery leaders to deliver scalable, high-performing solutions that support critical business outcomes.

In this role, you will:
Lead the end-to-end architecture, design, and modernization of enterprise applications, ensuring scalability, security, and operational excellence.
Drive technical execution of large-scale transition and transformation initiatives, ensuring successful knowledge transfer, solution readiness, and delivery milestones.
Design and evolve cloud-native solutions on AWS, leveraging microservices, event-driven architectures, and modern integration patterns.
Establish engineering best practices through architecture governance, code reviews, automated testing, and quality standards.
Partner with client engineering leaders, product owners, and cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business objectives.
Mentor senior engineers and technical leads, providing architectural guidance, technical direction, and delivery oversight.
Optimize application performance, reliability, and cloud infrastructure utilization to support business growth and operational efficiency.

What you need to have to be considered
Extensive experience architecting and delivering enterprise applications using Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and Microservices.
Proven experience designing and implementing AWS-based distributed systems, including services such as ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, and IAM.
Strong expertise in Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture patterns for real-time processing and system integration.
Experience designing and optimizing solutions using MongoDB or other NoSQL database technologies.
Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, system integration, and enterprise application modernization.
Experience leading large-scale technical programs, including architectural governance, solution delivery, and stakeholder management.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD practices, automated testing frameworks, and engineering quality processes.
These will help you stand out
Experience developing solutions using Python for data processing, automation, AI/ML integrations, or microservices.
Knowledge of cloud cost optimization, observability, and site reliability engineering practices.
Experience leading cloud migration and application modernization initiatives.
Familiarity with highly regulated industries and mission-critical enterprise platforms.
Strong mentoring, coaching, and technical leadership capabilities across distributed teams.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $102,600 to $162,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
