Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Automation Testing Engineer - Playwright & Selenium with 6-8 years of experience in Quality Engineering and Test Automation. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Playwright, Selenium, Java, and API Automation, with a proven ability to design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks for enterprise applications. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive quality initiatives, improve test coverage, integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines, and ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions. Experience with mobile automation and an interest in leveraging AI/GenAI technologies to enhance testing efficiency are highly desirable.

About the Role
As a Senior Automation Testing Engineer - Playwright & Selenium, you will play a key role in shaping and advancing the quality engineering practices for critical business applications. You will be responsible for developing robust automation solutions, creating effective test strategies, and ensuring comprehensive coverage across web, API, and mobile platforms.
Working closely with business stakeholders, developers, architects, and quality engineering teams, you will help drive continuous improvement in testing processes and support faster, more reliable software releases. You will also contribute to automation framework enhancements, CI/CD adoption, and the exploration of AI-driven testing capabilities to improve quality outcomes and overall efficiency.

In This Role, You Will
1. Design test strategies, test plans, test cases, and automated test solutions based on business and technical requirements. Recommend appropriate testing approaches, automation frameworks, tools, and quality assurance practices.
2. Analyze API specifications, service contracts, and integration requirements to develop interface testing strategies. Execute and automate API testing using tools such as Postman, SOAP UI, or similar technologies
3. Design, develop and execute automated test suites for critical business workflows by collaborating with automation engineers to create reusable frameworks, integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, and ensure automation coverage and effectiveness. This improves testing efficiency, accelerates release cycles, and increases test coverage while reducing manual effort.
4. Drive customer satisfaction through proactive engagement, issue resolution, and continuous service improvement initiatives
5. Adoption of emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI, to enable business transformation and create measurable business value
6. Collaborate with business, technology, and vendor stakeholders to establish scalable solutions and accelerate innovation adoption.
Work Model

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Plano, TX. Required Qualifications
1. 6-8 years of experience in Quality Engineering and Test Automation with strong expertise in designing and implementing automation frameworks for enterprise applications.
2. Hands-on experience with Playwright, Selenium, and Java for UI test automation across web-based applications.
3. Strong experience in API Automation Testing using tools/frameworks such as Rest Assured, Postman, or similar technologies.
4. Strong understanding of Web UI Automation, test framework development, test execution, reporting, and defect management processes.
5. Experience in Mobile Test Automation using tools such as Appium or equivalent frameworks for Android and iOS platforms.
6. Good understanding of AI/GenAI concepts and their application in Quality Engineering, including AI-assisted test generation, test optimization, defect analysis, and automation acceleration.
7. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in Agile/Scrum environments.

Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until October 18th , 2026.
The annual salary for this position is between $53,000 - $92,500 depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
