Roles and Responsibilities
Functional Specialist ISG with ten to eleven years of experience will drive end to end solutioning across Duck Creek Rating Duck Creek Insights Duck Creek Core and Duck Creek BA for complex insurance initiatives while partnering with cross functional teams in a hybrid day shift model and ensuring high quality policy administration outcomes that enhance customer value and organizational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business and technology teams to translate complex insurance rating and policy administration needs into clear functional requirements that fully leverage Duck Creek Rating Duck Creek Core Duck Creek Insights and Duck Creek BA components for scalable solutions.
- Design detailed configuration and functional workflows within Duck Creek Rating to support accurate pricing structures underwriting rules and flexible products ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and market competitiveness.
- Configure and validate Duck Creek Core functionalities including policy lifecycle processing endorsements renewals and cancellations to create seamless experiences for internal users and external customers and reduce processing errors.
- Coordinate with data and analytics stakeholders to define insights driven use cases in Duck Creek Insights enabling performance dashboards and reporting that guide strategic decisions and enhance portfolio profitability for the organization.
- Drive functional analysis and gap assessment across Duck Creek modules to identify optimization opportunities and improvement areas that result in reduced manual effort faster cycle times and more reliable policy data quality.
- Guide business acceptance and system validation activities for Duck Creek solutions by preparing test scenarios reviewing test results and ensuring that delivered functionality meets documented requirements and supports day to day operations.
- Support hybrid work collaboration by using digital tools to facilitate workshops walkthroughs and demos ensuring that geographically distributed teams remain aligned on solution designs timelines and functional expectations.
- Document end to end business processes use cases and configuration decisions for Duck Creek platforms in clear and structured formats to support auditability maintainability and efficient onboarding of new project team members.
- Coordinate defect triage and issue resolution for production and pre production environments by analyzing root causes proposing functional adjustments and validating fixes to maintain stability in policy administration and rating flows.
- Engage with product owners and subject matter experts to refine backlogs and prioritize enhancements across Duck Creek Rating Duck Creek Core and Duck Creek Insights in order to maximize business value and deliver incremental improvements.
- Provide functional guidance to development and quality teams on Duck Creek BA specifications by clarifying business logic data dependencies and acceptance criteria so that technical implementation remains aligned with intended outcomes.
- Promote alignment of Duck Creek implementations with broader insurance domain practices in policy administration by validating that workflows support compliance service level expectations and evolving market needs.
- Ensure all deliverables and communication are handled in English reading and writing with clear concise documentation and stakeholder updates so that hybrid teams and business partners have consistent understanding of progress and decisions.
Qualifications
- Possess ten to eleven years of progressive experience as a functional specialist or similar role working with enterprise insurance platforms and delivering complex solutions in large multinational environments.
- Demonstrate strong hands on expertise in Duck Creek Rating including configuration of rating algorithms tables and rules that support diverse insurance products and dynamic market conditions.
- Show advanced experience with Duck Creek Core components covering policy lifecycle management transactions workflows and integration points to external systems used in policy administration.
- Exhibit practical knowledge of Duck Creek Insights capabilities with an ability to define analytics requirements metrics and dashboards that give business stakeholders actionable intelligence and operational transparency.
- Display solid experience with Duck Creek BA by converting business requirements into structured functional specifications that guide development testing and release activities across project phases.
- Bring domain understanding in policy administration processes such as policy creation servicing renewals and regulatory compliance which helps design solutions aligned with industry practices and customer expectations.
- Communicate effectively in English reading and writing to collaborate with diverse cross functional teams prepare documentation and support hybrid ways of working in global project contexts.
- Adopt structured problem solving and analytical skills to handle complex functional challenges prioritize issues and recommend realistic solutions that support stability performance and user satisfaction.
- Operate comfortably in a hybrid work model and day shift environment managing self organization time and stakeholder communication without requiring business travel.
Certifications Required
Preferred certifications in Duck Creek technologies or insurance domain such as Duck Creek solution specialist or equivalent industry recognized credentials.

The annual salary for this position is between $110,000 - $120,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
