About the role
As a Senior Healthcare API Integration Quality Engineer, you will make an impact by validating complex healthcare integrations that support CMS Burden Reduction and Interoperability initiatives. You will be a valued member of a cross‑functional delivery team, working collaboratively with product owners, architects, developers, and quality leaders to ensure regulatory compliance, data integrity, and high‑quality API‑driven integrations across healthcare systems.
This role is heavily focused on API testing and HL7 FHIR‑based integrations, supporting large‑scale, mission‑critical healthcare platforms.
In this role, you will:
Lead and execute end‑to‑end API and integration testing for CMS Burden Reduction and interoperability initiatives.
Validate HL7 FHIR‑based REST APIs, including payloads, schemas, headers, authentication, and error handling.
Perform deep integration validation across upstream and downstream systems and external integration partners.
Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and regulatory compliance across complex API workflows.
Contribute to test strategy and planning during PI Planning, including scenario coverage, dependencies, risks, and regression impact.
Define and review acceptance criteria using GIVEN‑WHEN‑THEN format.
Design, automate, and execute end‑to‑end test scenarios (positive, negative, and integration).
Collaborating with product owners, architects, developers, RTEs, and QE leads on defect management, release readiness, and post‑production validation.
Maintain accurate and timely updates in Jira for test execution, defects, and feature validation.

What you need to have to be considered
5+ years of experience in end‑to‑end or integration quality engineering.
Strong hands‑on API testing expertise (must‑have).
Extensive experience using Postman for API validation.
Strong knowledge of HL7 FHIR, healthcare interoperability, and CMS Burden Reduction initiatives.
Experience testing REST APIs across complex integration workflows.
Strong experience using Jira for test and defect management.
Experience working in Agile or SAFe delivery environments.
These will help you stand out
Experience using Playwright for API and UI integration scenarios.
Exposure to CI/CD‑aligned testing practices.
Experience with Nucural or similar healthcare data platforms.
Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders across engineering, product, and architecture teams.
Strong communication skills and comfort participating in system demos, design walkthroughs, and release retrospectives.

Salary and Other Compensation
The annual salary for this position is between $53,477 to $92,500, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
