As a Senior Azure Cloud Platform Engineer, you will make an impact by building and supporting reliable Azure cloud platforms that keep business-critical insurance systems running securely and efficiently. You will contribute to cloud modernization, improve automation, strengthen platform reliability, and help teams deliver scalable solutions with greater speed and confidence. You will work with application, infrastructure, security, and business teams to design, deploy, automate, and support Azure cloud environments that are secure, resilient, and built for long-term scalability. You will be a valued member of our Cloud Infrastructure and Security team and work collaboratively with the Senior Manager.
In this role, you will:
• Design, build, and support cloud solutions using Microsoft Azure, Azure DevOps, and Azure Kubernetes Service.
• Deploy and maintain Azure cloud resources with a focus on reliability, scalability, performance, and availability.
• Use Terraform to build repeatable Infrastructure as Code solutions and improve cloud deployment processes.
• Partner with application, infrastructure, security, and business teams to integrate cloud services with existing insurance platforms.
• Apply cloud security, governance, and compliance practices to help protect sensitive business and customer data.
• Monitor cloud platform health, infrastructure performance, and resource utilization to support stable and cost-effective operations.
• Build and enhance automation scripts, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes to reduce manual effort.
• Troubleshoot complex cloud platform issues and help minimize service disruption.
• Support cloud assessments, audits, resiliency reviews, and risk mitigation activities.
• Contribute to disaster recovery planning, platform improvements, and ongoing cloud modernization initiatives.
Required skills
• 6+ years of experience with Azure Kubernetes Service and cloud-native platform operations in enterprise or production environments.
• Experience using Terraform for Infrastructure as Code and automated cloud provisioning.
• Proficiency with platform support, monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting tools.
• Strong experience with CI/CD tools, release automation, and source control platforms such as GitHub.
• Knowledge of cloud security, access controls, compliance, and governance practices.
• Ability to collaborate with technical and business teams across application, infrastructure, and security functions.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to support business-critical production environments.
Preferred skills
• Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar CI/CD platforms.
• Knowledge of high availability, resiliency, and disaster recovery practices.
• Experience with scripting or automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with cloud cost optimization and performance tuning.
• Experience in insurance, financial services, or another regulated industry is an asset.

Total compensation
We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between CAD $90,000 to $105,000 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
Working arrangements
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Toronto, ON.
