Job Summary
We are seeking a Qualys Configuration Compliance Specialist to support enterprise configuration compliance and attack surface management initiatives. This role will focus on designing, implementing, and managing secure configuration baselines using the Qualys Configuration Compliance platform. The ideal candidate will work closely with infrastructure, security, and technology teams to assess compliance against industry standards, identify configuration gaps, and drive remediation efforts. This position requires strong expertise in Qualys, security compliance frameworks, system administration, and automation scripting.

In this role, you will:
· Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Qualys Configuration Compliance and Attack Surface Management initiatives.
· Design, implement, test, and maintain configuration compliance policies aligned with enterprise Secure Configuration Programs.
· Perform compliance assessments and baseline validation using Qualys Configuration Compliance capabilities.
· Analyze compliance findings, identify configuration weaknesses, and work with technology teams to remediate non-compliant systems.
· Support compliance monitoring across Windows, Unix/Linux, network, database, and workstation environments.
· Generate and maintain compliance reports, dashboards, metrics, and audit evidence to support governance requirements.
· Develop automation scripts using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or Regex to streamline compliance assessments and reporting.
· Support configuration compliance mapping against industry standards such as CIS Benchmarks, NIST, and organizational security policies.
· Collaborate with infrastructure, security operations, and governance teams to improve overall security posture and reduce attack surface exposure.
· Ensure consistent scan coverage, policy accuracy, and operational effectiveness across enterprise environments.
What you need to have to be considered
· 5-8 years of experience in Cybersecurity, Vulnerability Management, Configuration Compliance, or Security Engineering.
· Strong hands-on expertise with Qualys Configuration Compliance including policy creation, compliance scanning, reporting, and remediation tracking.
· Experience assessing compliance against CIS Benchmarks, NIST, and enterprise security standards.
· Knowledge of Attack Surface Management and secure configuration practices across enterprise systems.
· Familiarity with Windows, Unix/Linux, server, workstation, or infrastructure administration.
· Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, Regex, or similar technologies.
· Experience working with security and compliance reporting, governance metrics, audits, and remediation programs.
· Strong analytical, troubleshooting, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with Qualys VMDR, Policy Compliance, and Asset Management modules.
· Certifications such as Qualys Certified Specialist, Security+, CISSP, or similar security certifications.
· Familiarity with vulnerability management tools such as Tenable, Tanium, Prisma, or Rapid7.
· Experience supporting enterprise compliance, governance, risk, and audit initiatives.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $[108,000 - 127,500] depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
