Blending our deep industry and technology advisory capability, we create innovative business solutions for Fortune 500 clients. And now, we're looking for our next colleague who'll join us in shaping the future of business. Could it be you?
About the role
As a Sr Consulting Manager - Manhattan Active Warehouse Management (MAWM), you will make an impact by leading configuration, extension development using Manhattan ProActive®, and integration design for modern, automated distribution centers. You will be a valued member of the Supply Chain Consulting team and work collaboratively with business, operations, automation vendors, enterprise architecture, delivery teams, and clients.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the design and implementation of Manhattan's Active WM solution in manual and automated distribution centers, including facility setup, locations, inventory rules, allocation, task generation, waving, cartonization, packing, shipping, equipment, users/roles, reason codes, exceptions, and operational workflows.
- Design, build, and support MAWM extensions using Manhattan ProActive, including custom services, UI extensions, labels/documents, events, and configuration-driven enhancements.
- Own integration design and delivery between MAWM and MHE/WES/WCS systems (conveyors, sorters, ASRS, shuttle systems, AMRs/AGVs, pick-to-light, put walls, print/apply, dimensioners, and automated packing solutions), including message flows, API/event contracts, canonical payloads, sequencing, retry/error handling, idempotency, monitoring, and reconciliation patterns.
- Partner with ERP, OMS, TMS, and middleware teams to integrate inventory, orders, ASN/receipts, shipments, carrier manifesting, labor, item/location masters, and operational visibility data; support fit-gap analysis, process design workshops, configuration workbooks, functional/technical specifications, test strategy, cutover planning, hypercare, and stabilization.
- Provide technical leadership to developers, testers, and offshore teams; perform hands-on troubleshooting across MAWM configuration, extensions, integration payloads, logs, automation events, and performance bottlenecks; advise clients on warehouse automation integration patterns, operational control points, fallback procedures, and support model design.
Work model
Based on this role's business requirements, this is a remote position for candidates based in United States, requiring 25% travel to a client or Cognizant office. Regardless of your working arrangement, we are here to support a healthy work-life balance though our various wellbeing programs.
The working arrangements for this role are accurate as of the date of posting. This may change based on the project you're engaged in, as well as business and client requirements. Rest assured; we will always be clear about role expectations.
What you must have to be considered
- 8+ years of experience in WMS / supply chain execution, with deep expertise in Manhattan Active Warehouse Management (MAWM) functional configuration across inbound receiving, putaway, replenishment, picking, packing, shipping, inventory control, cycle count, tasking, and exception workflows.
- Hands-on ability to design and build Manhattan extensions using Manhattan ProActive — custom validations, workflow logic, user exits/extensions, document/label changes, event handlers, custom screens/UI actions, and reusable extension components (Groovy/Java-style extension logic where applicable).
- Proven MHE / WES / WCS integration experience — real-time task release, totes/cartons, induction, divert confirmation, pick completion, exception responses, inventory moves, and equipment status messaging with automation orchestration and material handling systems.
- Strong integration architecture knowledge — REST APIs, event streaming, message queues, EDI/XML/JSON, canonical schemas, retry/replay, monitoring, observability, and operational reconciliation for supply chain execution systems.
- Full delivery lifecycle experience — fit-gap, design documentation, build/configuration, unit/SIT/UAT, regression, performance testing, cutover, go-live command center, and stabilization; plus strong troubleshooting skills across log analysis, payload tracing, configuration diagnosis, failed message recovery, and root cause analysis.
These will help you succeed
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Manhattan Active WM preferred; prior experience as MAWM Solution Architect, Lead Functional Consultant, Technical Lead, or Senior Developer on at least one full-cycle implementation.
- Experience with highly automated warehouses, including direct coordination with MHE/WES vendors during design, integration testing, site testing, and go-live support.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operational KPIs — dock-to-stock, order cycle time, pick rate, pack rate, throughput, inventory accuracy, labor utilization, and automation uptime.
- Exposure to Manhattan Labor Management, Slotting, Yard Management, transportation/carrier integration, or retail/eCommerce fulfillment models.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to create executive-ready summaries, technical designs, configuration workbooks, and operational runbooks; ability to guide client stakeholders through trade-offs between standard configuration, extensions, integration changes, and operational process changes.
We're excited to meet people who share our mission and can make an impact in a variety of ways. Don't hesitate to apply, even if you only meet the minimum requirements listed. Think about your transferable experiences and unique skills that make you stand out as someone who can bring new and exciting things to this role.
