Job Summary
The Senior OTA Software Test Engineer supports the end to end verification plan for the Software Updates initiative by supporting the test strategies for manual and automated execution define by the OTA Test coordinators holding regular technical team meetings to determine test progress software defects and tracking software updates to fix issues.
Responsibilities
- Design comprehensive automated test strategies for automotive systems using vTestStudio and custom frameworks to ensure robust verification and validation coverage across functional and regression scenarios.
- Develop maintain and enhance scalable test frameworks using Python Bash and CAPL scripting to support continuous improvement in test efficiency and reliability.
- Create reusable automated test scripts and libraries that enable consistent execution of complex verification workflows while reducing manual effort and increasing test repeatability.
- Execute detailed auto verification and validation test plans on embedded and system level components ensuring alignment with automotive quality and safety standards.
- Analyze test results with a focus on identifying root causes of defects and document findings in clear reports that support rapid resolution by development and system engineering teams.
- Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders in engineering quality and project management to refine test requirements and ensure test coverage meets project and regulatory expectations.
- Optimize test execution pipelines by refining scripts frameworks and configurations to reduce cycle time while maintaining high accuracy and reliable defect detection.
- Provide technical guidance to peers on effective usage of vTestStudio scripting patterns and framework development practices to promote consistency and best practices across projects.
- Coordinate test activities with global project teams including planning test cycles managing dependencies and aligning schedules which may involve occasional travel to customer or partner sites.
- Document test procedures environment configurations and data management practices in a clear and structured manner to support audit readiness and long term maintainability.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating new tools methodologies and automation opportunities that enhance the company purpose of delivering safer and more reliable automotive solutions to society.
- Communicate test status risks and defect trends in English with strong read write and speak capability enabling transparent updates to stakeholders and informed decision making.
- Ensure adherence to work from office day shift operational expectations maintaining effective onsite collaboration and leveraging laboratory and test bench infrastructure for high fidelity validation.
Qualifications
- Demonstrate strong hands on expertise in vTestStudio including test design configuration management and integration with automotive toolchains to support end to end verification workflows.
- Apply advanced Python scripting skills to build modular test components data processing utilities and automation glue code that enhance test framework flexibility and reuse.
- Utilize Bash scripting experience to orchestrate test environment setup log handling and batch execution on Linux or similar platforms ensuring efficient and reliable test operations.
- Employ CAPL scripting proficiency to design bus level and communication oriented test cases that validate automotive network behaviors and protocol compliance.
- Bring proven experience in auto verification and validation within the automotive domain including familiarity with typical system architectures interfaces and industry expectations for quality.
- Show capability in test framework development by architecting well structured components configuration mechanisms and reporting features that support scalable multi project use.
Certifications Required
ISTQB Advanced Test Analyst or equivalent software testing certification preferred along with training in automotive verification and validation practices.
