The Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled MuleSoft Tech Lead who will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining integration solutions using MuleSoft’s Anypoint Platform. This role focuses on implementing APIs, data transformations, and system integrations that enable seamless communication across enterprise applications.
Work Authorization:
Please note, this role is not able to offer visa transfer or sponsorship now or in the future.
Work model:
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in San Francisco, CA. Regardless of your working arrangement, we are here to support a healthy work-life balance though our various wellbeing programs.
In this role, you will:
· Lead the design and delivery of secure, scalable integration solutions using MuleSoft and AWS Kiro to support utilities, outage management, and other critical business services.
· Drive the end-to-end API lifecycle through API Manager and MuleSoft capabilities, covering API design, implementation, deployment, governance, policy enforcement, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement.
· Define reusable API-led integration patterns, frameworks, payload structures, and security standards that keep system and data flows resilient, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise architecture.
· Provide hands-on technical leadership for solution architecture, development, troubleshooting, code reviews, testing, and quality assurance across MuleSoft and AWS integration components.
· Implement authentication, authorization, encryption, logging, monitoring, and alerting controls that protect customer and operational data while improving service reliability and incident response.
· Optimize the performance, availability, and operational resilience of integrations supporting outage workflows so customers receive timely and accurate service-status and restoration information.
· Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, utilities subject-matter experts, infrastructure teams, and cloud teams to translate requirements into integration designs and coordinate hybrid delivery within agreed timelines.
· Maintain architecture documents, mapping specifications, and operational runbooks, while mentoring engineers on API design, integration troubleshooting, reusable assets, and utilities-domain practices.
What you need to have to be considered
· 10–13 years of enterprise integration experience, including proven technical leadership in designing and delivering complex, business-critical solutions.
· Strong hands-on expertise in MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, including API-led connectivity, Mule applications, integration patterns, DataWeave, deployment, and troubleshooting.
· Deep experience with API Manager and end-to-end API lifecycle management, including API design, governance, policy enforcement, analytics, versioning, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
· Working experience with AWS Kiro or comparable AI-assisted, specification-driven engineering tools for creating designs, code, tests, documentation, and repeatable development workflows.
· Strong knowledge of API and integration security, including authentication, authorization, encryption, secure communication, compliance controls, and protection of customer and operational data.
· Experience implementing resilient integration services with effective logging, monitoring, alerting, performance tuning, high availability, and incident-response practices.
· Utilities domain experience, preferably involving outage management processes, service-status communication, restoration workflows, or other operationally critical integrations.
· MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect or an equivalent enterprise integration certification relevant to MuleSoft and API management, with strong stakeholder communication, team mentoring, and hybrid-delivery coordination skills.
