Job Summary

This hybrid role is for a seasoned Test Lead with ten to twelve years of experience in complex embedded environments focusing on Windows XP Embedded automation using Python and Robot Framework and Embedded C validation. The Test Lead will oversee end to end test planning and execution assure high quality delivery for research and clinical products and collaborate closely with cross functional teams while working primarily in a day shift with no travel requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and maintenance of comprehensive test strategies for embedded solutions built on Windows XP Embedded to ensure robust functionality performance and reliability across all targeted configurations and use cases.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of manual and automated test cycles using Robot Framework and Python automation to deliver predictable and repeatable validation outcomes that align with project milestones and quality benchmarks.
  • Provide technical guidance on the implementation of test scripts in Python and Embedded C to verify firmware behavior interface stability and error handling while ensuring traceability from requirements to test cases.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the automation framework by extending reusable Python libraries and Robot Framework resources that simplify test development and reduce execution time for regression cycles.
  • Coordinate defect management activities by reviewing failures with development and research teams analyzing logs and traces from embedded systems and ensuring timely resolution and retest of defects with clear documentation.
  • Collaborate with research and product teams in R and D as well as preclinical and clinical domains to understand user scenarios regulatory expectations and product risks then translate them into meaningful test coverage and risk based prioritization.
  • Ensure that hybrid work execution remains efficient by using secure remote access methods clear communication in English and structured reporting practices that keep all stakeholders informed during day shift operations.
  • Prepare detailed test reports and metrics that highlight coverage defect trends automation effectiveness and readiness for release enabling informed decisions that protect user safety and enhance societal trust in the company products.
  • Support test environment setup and maintenance for embedded platforms by installing builds configuring hardware and interfaces and validating that test beds mirror intended production conditions for accurate results.
  • Contribute to product and process quality by identifying opportunities to refine requirements improve design testability and promote early defect detection within the overall development lifecycle.
  • Guide junior test engineers in applying structured test design techniques for embedded software fostering consistent use of automation clear documentation standards and effective collaboration without formal people management responsibilities.
  • Participate actively in cross functional discussions to clarify issues propose test optimizations and align on release criteria ensuring that test insights directly support business goals and positive impact on end users.
  • Champion the use of systematic risk assessment in embedded testing by mapping potential failure modes to targeted test scenarios thereby reducing field issues and enhancing safety for clinical and preclinical applications.

    • Qualifications

  • Demonstrate strong hands on experience in testing solutions based on Windows XP Embedded with a proven track record of validating system behavior resource constraints and peripheral interactions in complex setups.
  • Exhibit advanced proficiency in Robot Framework by designing modular test suites keyword driven scenarios and robust automation pipelines that integrate seamlessly with continuous integration tools.
  • Apply expert level Python and Python automation skills to build maintainable test scripts utilities and automation harnesses that enable scalable regression testing and efficient analysis of test outputs.
  • Show solid understanding of Embedded C principles including memory management real time constraints and hardware abstraction so that test cases and automation can effectively validate embedded software behavior.
  • Bring domain awareness of R and D as well as preclinical and clinical environments by appreciating safety considerations data integrity needs and validation expectations that shape test strategies and documentation.
  • Utilize excellent English reading writing and speaking skills to communicate requirements defects risks and test results clearly with global stakeholders in a hybrid work setting.

    • Certifications Required

    ISTQB Advanced Test Analyst or Certified Test Automation Engineer or equivalent certification in software testing and automation.
