Job Title: Splunk Administrator

We are seeking a highly skilled Splunk Administrator / Technology Engineer to support enterprise monitoring, observability, and operational excellence initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Splunk Administration, including onboarding new customers, integrating data sources, troubleshooting platform issues, and maintaining the overall health and performance of the Splunk environment.
As a Technology Engineer, you will design, implement, support, and enhance standard and custom technology solutions aligned with architectural standards, technology roadmaps, industry trends, and business requirements. Your expertise will span infrastructure and enterprise technology domains including data, systems, storage, middleware, networking, security, collaboration, and contact center technologies.
The role requires strong Python scripting and automation capabilities to streamline administration, monitoring, reporting, and operational workflows. Experience with OpenTelemetry (OTel) implementation and rollout is highly desirable, including knowledge of open-source telemetry agents and collectors used for gathering logs, metrics, and traces across distributed environments.
You will be accountable for the operational management of observability and monitoring platforms, ensuring reliability, scalability, and compliance with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs) while supporting continuous improvement and modernization efforts.
Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $114,000 to $128,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and maintain the Splunk platform, ensuring high availability, performance, security, and operational stability.
Onboard new customers and applications by integrating a variety of enterprise data sources into the Splunk ecosystem.
Troubleshoot and resolve Splunk platform issues related to data ingestion, indexing, search performance, dashboards, alerts, and infrastructure components.
Configure and manage Splunk indexes, forwarders, search heads, data inputs, user access controls, reports, dashboards, and alerting mechanisms.
Develop and maintain Python-based automation solutions for platform administration, monitoring, integrations, reporting, and operational workflows.
Support enterprise-wide log management, monitoring, and observability initiatives across infrastructure, applications, middleware, and cloud environments.
Implement technology solutions aligned with architectural standards, technology roadmaps, industry best practices, and business requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including infrastructure, application, security, networking, middleware, and cloud engineering groups.
Manage operational aspects of monitoring and observability platforms while ensuring adherence to service levels and operational commitments.
Participate in OpenTelemetry (OTel) implementation and rollout initiatives, including deployment and configuration of open-source agents and collectors for logs, metrics, and telemetry collection.
Support incident management, root cause analysis, capacity planning, performance tuning, and continuous service improvement activities.
Evaluate emerging observability technologies and recommend enhancements to improve platform effectiveness and operational visibility.
Required Qualifications
8+ years of hands-on experience in Splunk Administration and Operations.
Strong experience onboarding customers and integrating enterprise data sources into Splunk.
Experience troubleshooting Splunk infrastructure, ingestion pipelines, search performance, and operational issues.
Strong Python scripting and automation skills.
Experience with monitoring, observability, and enterprise log management platforms.
Knowledge of infrastructure technologies including systems, storage, networking, middleware, security, and cloud environments.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in fast-paced enterprise environments supporting critical business systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with OpenTelemetry (OTel) implementation, instrumentation, and telemetry collection frameworks.
Knowledge of open-source observability agents and collectors used for gathering logs, metrics, and traces.
Experience with distributed tracing and modern observability practices.
Experience supporting AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud environments.
Familiarity with DevOps, SRE, and Infrastructure Automation practices.
